Traveling-Wave Couplers for Longitudinal Beam-Type Amplifiers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1958
The equations governing traveling-wave interaction between an electron beam and a slow-wave circuit are formulated in terms of amplitudes of circuit mode and slow and fast space charge modes. The resulting equations are solved to find expressions for the

The role of histone modifications in transcription regulation upon DNA damage

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This review discusses the critical role of histone modifications in regulating gene expression during the DNA damage response (DDR). By modulating chromatin structure and recruiting repair factors, these post‐translational modifications fine‐tune transcriptional programmes to maintain genomic stability.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

Fast two-stage charge equaliser based on state-of-charge (SOC) balancing for series-connected supercapacitors

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2019
New energy storage vehicles which use supercapacitors (SCs) as the unique source of traction power are developing rapidly recently. To satisfy the operating voltage requirement of energy storage vehicle, hundreds of SCs are needed to be connected in ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Large Dispersive Interaction between a CMOS Double Quantum Dot and Microwave Photons

open access: yesPRX Quantum, 2021
We report fast charge-state readout of a double quantum dot in a CMOS split-gate silicon nanowire transistor via the large dispersive interaction with microwave photons in a lumped-element resonator formed by hybrid integration with a superconducting ...

Charge sensing in carbon nanotube quantum dots on microsecond timescales

open access: yes, 2005
We report fast, simultaneous charge sensing and transport measurements of gate-defined carbon nanotube quantum dots. Aluminum radio frequency single electron transistors (rf-SETs) capacitively coupled to the nanotube dot provide single-electron charge ...

Perceived Usage Potential of Fast-Charging Locations [PDF]

open access: yesWorld Electric Vehicle Journal, 2018
Fast-charging infrastructure with charging time of 20–30 min can help minimizing current perceived limitations of electric vehicles, especially considering the unbalanced and incomprehensive distribution of charging options combined with a long perceived charging time. Positioned on optimal location from user and business perspective, the technology is

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...
