Effects of pre-formed grooves and thermal barriers on the thermal response of ammunition under thermo-mechanical coupling

open access: yesCase Studies in Thermal Engineering
To address three limitations in current studies on ammunition thermal protection—insufficient design criteria for grooved weakening structures, fragmented optimization of thermal-insulation materials, and incomplete characterization of thermo ...

Reducing Cooling Costs for Sustainable Food Biomanufacturing With Thermotolerant Cupriavidus necator H16 Mutant

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
With a thermotolerant C. necator mutant the SCP production costs can be decreased by $0.98/kg. ABSTRACT Autotrophic CO2 conversion to Single Cell Protein (SCP) using H2 and O2 is gaining commercial traction for food and feed production. Cupriavidus necator H16 is a key chassis organism for this “knallgas” fermentation, but industrial operation is ...

Temporally resolved imaging on quenching and re-ignition of nanosecond underwater discharge

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2012
This paper presents the temporally resolved images of plasma discharge in de-ionized water. The discharge was produced by high voltage pulses with 0.3 ns rise time and 10 ns duration. The temporal resolution of the imaging system was one nanosecond.

The Grey Zone of Stakeholder Engagement: Misalignment as a Manifestation of Greyness in Stakeholder Collaboration

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study identifies and conceptualises the grey zone of stakeholder engagement and explores how it manifests in a collaborative context related to the promotion of a circular economy. While prior research on stakeholder engagement has highlighted the positive, value‐creating bright side or the harmful dark side of stakeholder engagement, we ...

Pathways to Carbon Neutrality: The Role of Environmental Governance, Environmental Technology, Renewable Energy Transition, and Economic Policy Uncertainty in Africa

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As climate change and environmental deterioration continue to escalate due to substantial CO2 emissions, nations worldwide are implementing approaches to alleviate CO2 emissions and accomplish carbon neutrality (CNE) goals. The current study examined CNE objectives for five selected nations in Africa, spanning from 1990 to 2022.

Decoding the Circular Economy Job Market in the EU: A Quantitative and Comparative Analysis

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The circular economy (CE) is increasingly promoted as a pathway to sustainable development, yet systematic evidence on the structure of the CE labor market remains limited. Little is known about how CE‐related job opportunities are distributed across countries, which job characteristics dominate this market, and how such patterns compare with ...

Enhanced Model for Fast Ignition

open access: yes, 2010
Laser Fusion is a prime candidate for alternate energy production, capable of serving a major portion of the nation's energy needs, once fusion fuel can be readily ignited. Fast Ignition may well speed achievement of this goal, by reducing net demands on laser pulse energy and timing precision.
