Fast-neutron fluence determination with diamond sensors

Atomic Energy, 2005
A new method of determining the fluence with an integrating diamond sensor is developed. The method is based on the results of many experiments on combined irradiation in VVER-1000 of diamond sensors and control samples for which activity data on the fast-neutron fluence were obtained from the 54Mn by a computational-experimental method.

Measurement of fast neutron fluences by the nuclear track technique

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1990
Abstract The properties of solid state nuclear track detectors (SSNTDs) for fast neutron measurements in the presence of high gamma radiation fields have been investigated. A comparative study of two different modes of fast neutron measurements based on SSNTDs is presented.

Measurement of fast neutron fluence using nuclear track detector

International Journal of Radiation Applications and Instrumentation. Part D. Nuclear Tracks and Radiation Measurements, 1986
Abstract The properties of CR-39 plastic track detector for fast neutron detection have been investigated. A method has been suggested to measure the fast neutron fluence by counting the track density on the surface of the CR-39 plastic track detector.

Fission detectors as secondary standards for the measurement of fast neutron fluence

Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1977
Abstract To measure neutron fluence, fission foils of 235U, 238U and 237Np are irradiated in contact with polycarbonate film to record the tracks of fission fragments. Corrections involved in the use of these foils with microscope counting of the tracks for the absolute determination of neutron fluence are considered and evaluated, including the ...

Hole mobility in germanium irradiated with large fluences of fast neutrons

physica status solidi (a), 2003
The Hall mobility of holes in germanium irradiated with large fluences of fast neutrons 10 14 cm -2 < Φ < 10 19 cm -2 is studied over a wide range of temperature 7 K < T < 300 K and for radiation defect concentrations of 1 x 10 14 cm -3 < N RD < 3 x 10 17 cm -3 .

Verifying Calculation of Reactor Pressure Vessel Fast Neutron Fluence

Advanced Materials Research, 2014
The reactor pressure vessel is an unchangeable component of the light water reactor. To some extent, the life of the pressure vessel depends on the fast neutron fluence. In addition, the fast neutron fluence is an important parameter for radiation protection.

The effects of large fast-neutron fluences on the structure of stainless steel

Journal of Nuclear Materials, 1969
Abstract The changes in microstructure which occur when type 304L stainless steel is irradiated at temperatures between 370 and 472 °C and fast-neutron fluences between 0.8 and1.4 × 1022n/cm2 have been investigated by electron microscopy. The fuel cladding from an Experimental Breeder Reactor-II driver fuel element served as the experimental material.

Measurement of fast neutron fluence using a lexan track detector

Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms, 1989
Abstract The properties of Lexan plastic track detectors for fast neutron detection have been investigated. A simple method has been suggested to measure the fast neutron fluence by counting the track density in the Lexan plastic track detector. Track-producing particles resulted from the fast-neutron-induced fission of 238U which was coated on the ...

Dependence of the Silica Glass Parameters on the Fluence of Fast Neutrons

Russian Physics Journal, 2003
The results of comprehensive investigations into the influence of fast-neutron fluences on the silica glass parameters are presented. In particular, the dose dependences of the parameters are measured by optical (luminescence, absorption, EPR, IR, and refraction), dielectric, and x-ray spectroscopy methods over a wide range of fluences from 1017 to ...

Deformation Anisotropy of Annealed Zircaloy-2 as a Function of Fast Neutron Fluence

Journal of ASTM International, 2008
For unirradiated Zircaloys, plastic deformation occurs mostly by ⟨a⟩-type dislocation glide on prismatic planes. The critical resolved shear stress of the prismatic slip system is lower than that of the other deformation systems (⟨a⟩ slip on basal planes, and ⟨a⟩ or ⟨c+a⟩ slip on pyramidal planes, and twinning).
