Fast Food and Deprivation in Nova Scotia [PDF]
To examine the relationship between density of fast food restaurants and measures of social and material deprivation at the community level in Nova Scotia, Canada.Census information on population and key variables required for the calculation of deprivation indices were obtained for 266 communities in Nova Scotia.

Quark nova model for fast radio bursts [PDF]
FRBs are puzzling, millisecond, energetic radio transients with no discernible source; observations show no counterparts in other frequency bands. The birth of a quark star from a parent neutron star experiencing a quark nova - previously thought undetectable when born in isolation - provides a natural explanation for the emission characteristics of ...

M87 has been monitored with a cadence of 5 days over a span of 9 months through the near-ultraviolet (NUV; F275W) and optical (F606W) filters of the Wide Field Camera 3 (WFC3) of the Hubble Space Telescope.

Near-infrared and optical studies of the fast nova V4643 Sgr (Nova Sagittarii 2001) [PDF]
V4643 Sagittarii or Nova Sagittarii 2001 was discovered in outburst at 7.7 mag. on 2001 February 24. Here, we present near-infrared results of this fast classical nova obtained in the early decline phase in 2001 March followed by optical observations about one month later.

Nova remnants … the fast siblings of planetary nebulae
AbstractClassical and recurrent novae are luminous eruptions taking place in binary star systems in which a white dwarf accretes material from a non-degenerate stellar companion. After the nova event, a shell of gas is expelled and expands into the surrounding environment at hundreds to thousands of km s−1.

BRAT-nova: fast and accurate mapping of bisulfite-treated reads [PDF]
Abstract Summary: In response to increasing amounts of sequencing data, faster and faster aligners need to become available. Here, we introduce BRAT-nova, a completely rewritten and improved implementation of the mapping tool BRAT-BW for bisulfite-treated reads (BS-Seq). BRAT-nova is very fast and accurate. On the human genome, BRAT-nova
