Catalytic Fast Pyrolysis of Biomass [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Fast pyrolysis is one of the techniques considered for the production of so called “second generation” biofuels and green chemicals. The produced “biooil” is just an intermediate which needs subsequent treatment like fractionation and/or isolation in combination with catalytic upgrading to the desired final products.

Biodegradability of fast pyrolysis oils [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Fast pyrolysis is a thermo chemical method to provide a liquid with a high heating value named bio-oil. This pyrolysis process occurs under conditions of rapid heating and short reactor residence times of the biomass. The obtained bio-oil can be burned in a diesel engine, a gas turbine or a furnace to produce heat and/or electricity.
