Tunnels in IP Fast Reroute

The 10th International Conference on Digital Technologies 2014, 2014
After the failure of a network node or a link, a period of impaired connectivity is experienced until the network reconverges. During this period, specific destinations are not reachable, causing issues specifically with critical and time-sensitive services such as Voice over IP.

Enhancing TCP performance in IP fast reroute

2012 IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC), 2012
IP fast reroute (IPFRR) mechanisms are efficient in providing protection against link or router failure by invoking locally determined backup paths. But in the presence of a transient network failure, the path oscillates between backup and original paths, causing frequent packet out-of-order arrivals at a TCP receiver.

Energy Efficiency Using the Fast Reroute Technique

2014
This article is addressed to network engineers and managers of large enterprises that are interested in energy consumption of network devices. In the last years many efforts in telecommunications network research and design have been devoted to reduce energy consumption of network devices.

On the complexity of computing shortest fast reroute paths

International Congress on Ultra Modern Telecommunications and Control Systems, 2010
In order to keep services running despite link or node failure in MPLS networks, RSVP-TE fast reroute (FRR) schemes use precomputed backup label-switched path tunnels for local repair of LSP tunnels. In the event of failure, the redirection of traffic occurs onto backup LSP tunnels that have the same quality of service constraints than original paths ...
