An evaluation of possible mechanisms for anomalous resistivity in the solar corona

open access: yes, 2007
A wide variety of transient events in the solar corona seem to require explanations that invoke fast reconnection. Theoretical models explaining fast reconnection often rely on enhanced resistivity.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Fast and accurate transient simulation of magnetic gears

open access: yesAIP Advances
Magnetic gears, being contactless, offer distinct advantages over mechanical gears. Transient simulations are required for the evaluation of dynamic performance, but the complex geometry of magnetic gears makes them computationally intensive with high ...

Research on transient AC overvoltage suppression method of DC sending end based on novel fast-excitation MCR

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The growing reliance on high-power high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems has intensified challenges associated with transient AC overvoltage induced by commutation failures resulting from converter operation characteristics.

The inferior displacement of the His bundle and fast pathway in a patient with common type atrioventricular nodal tachycardia: Three-dimensional computed tomography analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2017
A 66-year-old woman with palpitations was referred to our center for catheter ablation due to drug-refractory, common type atrioventricular nodal tachycardia (AVNRT). A selective slow pathway ablation was attempted.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

Gelation in free-radical crosslinking copolymerization; fast transient fluorescence study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2002
The fast transient fluorescence (FTRF) technique was used to study the sol-gel phase transition in free-radical crosslinking copolymerization (FCC) in two different monomeric systems.
