Probing the origin of fluorescence quenching of graphene-porphyrin hybrid material [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We report transient absorption spectroscopic studies on the hybrid material composed of porphyrin molecules covalently attached to graphene for investigating the mechanism underlying the reported fluorescence quenching of porphyrin in the hybrid [1 ...

Realfast: Real-Time, Commensal Fast Transient Surveys with the Very Large Array

open access: yes, 2018
Radio interferometers have the ability to precisely localize and better characterize the properties of sources. This ability is having a powerful impact on the study of fast radio transients, where a few milliseconds of data is enough to pinpoint a ...

Correlation of the differential expression of PIK3R1 and its spliced variant, p55α, in pan‐cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PIK3R1 undergoes alternative splicing to generate the isoforms, p85α and p55α. By combining large patient datasets with laboratory experiments, we show that PIK3R1 spliced variants shape cancer behavior. While tumors lose the protective p85α isoform, p55α is overexpressed, changes linked to poorer survival and more pronounced in African American ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Fast and accurate transient simulation of magnetic gears

open access: yesAIP Advances
Magnetic gears, being contactless, offer distinct advantages over mechanical gears. Transient simulations are required for the evaluation of dynamic performance, but the complex geometry of magnetic gears makes them computationally intensive with high ...

Basroparib inhibits YAP‐driven cancers by stabilizing angiomotin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Basroparib, a selective tankyrase inhibitor, suppresses Wnt signaling and attenuates YAP‐driven oncogenic programs by stabilizing angiomotin. It promotes AMOT–YAP complex formation, enforces cytoplasmic YAP sequestration, inhibits YAP/TEAD transcription, and sensitizes YAP‐active cancers, including KRAS‐mutant colorectal cancer, to MEK inhibition.

Research on transient AC overvoltage suppression method of DC sending end based on novel fast-excitation MCR

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrical Power & Energy Systems
The growing reliance on high-power high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems has intensified challenges associated with transient AC overvoltage induced by commutation failures resulting from converter operation characteristics.

The inferior displacement of the His bundle and fast pathway in a patient with common type atrioventricular nodal tachycardia: Three-dimensional computed tomography analysis

open access: yesJournal of Arrhythmia, 2017
A 66-year-old woman with palpitations was referred to our center for catheter ablation due to drug-refractory, common type atrioventricular nodal tachycardia (AVNRT). A selective slow pathway ablation was attempted.

Response of tantalum capacitors to fast transient overvoltages [PDF]

open access: yes, 1975
Report describes tests used to determine minimum time for capacitors to fail due to overvoltage and maximum amount of overvoltage that capacitors could sustain without permanent ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...
