Variable Fast Transient Digitizer

2019 IEEE 62nd International Midwest Symposium on Circuits and Systems (MWSCAS), 2019
A low cost, low power substitute for expensive, high power high-speed analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) in some situations is presented. This circuit is called a variable fast transient digitizer (VFTD). This paper provides an overview of the design and measured test results.

Fast transients in mesoscopic systems

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2011
We study fast transient dynamics of an open quantum system at the initial stage of its equilibration starting far from equilibrium from correlated initial conditions reflecting entanglement with the environment. These correlations rapidly decay and the process enters the non‐equilibrium quasi‐particle mode controlled by a generalized master equation ...

VRM transient analysis at fast load change and fast-transient response with LILC

2003 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics ( Cat. No.03TH8692), 2004
The power supplies with lower output voltage, higher output current and extremely fast load current transients impose severe issues to the design of voltage regulation modules (VRMs). In this paper analyze the effect of the parasitic elements of the output filter capacitor, to the output voltage and the load current slew rate of the switching power ...

Centrifugal Compressors During Fast Transients

Volume 5: Industrial and Cogeneration; Microturbines and Small Turbomachinery; Oil and Gas Applications; Wind Turbine Technology, 2010
Transient studies for compressor systems allow the prediction of the compressor system behavior during fast transients such as they occur during emergency shutdowns. For the system simulations, the compressor behavior is assumed to be quasi steady state.

FAST ACCURATE TRANSIENT STABILITY SIMULATIONS

Electric Machines & Power Systems, 1987
The paper describes a Simultaneous Implicit (SI) approach for transient stability simulations based on an iterative technique using traingularised admittance matrix [1]. The reduced saliency of generator in the subtransient state is taken advantage of to speed up the algorithm.

Very fast transients in GIS

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 1989
Different types of very fast transients (VFTs) are classified and their characteristic parameters are summarized based on measurements in a 800 kV SF/sub 6/ gas-insulated pilot installation and 420 kV GIS (gas-insulated switchgear) in service. The electromagnetic field between the enclosure and earth results in a transient enclosure voltage of up to ...

Fast Transient Stability Assessment Revisited

IEEE Power Engineering Review, 1986
Energy Liapunov-like criteria are devised, their essential characteristics are assessed, and, depending upon the particular needs they are called to meet, the most appropriate among them are identified. The criteria derive from the conjunction of various Liapunov-like functions ("global", "individual", and Taylor series based ones) with two different ...

Fast Transient Micro-Boiling Characterization

Heat Transfer: Volume 2, 2005
The dynamics of Thermal Ink Jet (TIJ) micro-bubble life cycles is characterized through bubble area measurements for small planar heaters (41 μm × 45 μm). A laser visualization technique is used to measure the bubble area viewed from above. The bubbles are generated in water by 2–4 μs heating pulse and survive for 8–10 μs after the pulse.

Electrical fast transient tests: applications and limitations

Record of Conference Papers., Industrial Applications Society 35th Annual Petroleum and Chemical Industry Conference,, 1990
The IEC Electrical Fast Transient (EFT) test was performed on two line configurations selected as typical of low-voltage power lines: a three-conductor line in a steel conduit and a three-conductor cable with a nonmetallic jacket. An attenuation model that provides a tool for understanding the significance of the line parameters and extends the ...

Electrically Fast Transient (EFT)

2014
High-frequency transients and impulses such as electrically fast transients (EFT) are caused by light switches, relay chatter, or motor start-up transients on the power line. These transients often occur in bursts and can cause upset to your product if the power line filtering is inadequate.
