Transmitter architecture for faster-than-Nyquist signaling systems
2009 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2009This paper presents the complexity analysis of a transmitter architecture for a faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) system. Complexity issues in terms of computations and memory requirements to achieve an FTN system are dealt with. An OFDM based multi-carrier system is considered as it is one of the most widely used in upcoming wireless standards.

Faster-Than-Nyquist Signaling with Constraints on Pulse Shapes
2019 IEEE 30th Annual International Symposium on Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications (PIMRC), 2019Faster-Than-Nyquist (FTN) Signaling is a non-orthogonal transmission scheme which violates the Nyquist zero-ISI criterion providing higher throughput and better spectral efficiency than a Nyquist transmission scheme. This comes with a cost of higher transceiver complexity.

Fundamentals of Faster-than-Nyquist Signaling
2016This chapter presents the fundamentals of Faster-than- Nyquist (FTN) signaling. As originally introduced, FTN increases the bit-rate in the signaling bandwidth by packing symbols closer in time, at the cost of introducing intersymbol interference (ISI).

On computing the minimum distance for faster than Nyquist signaling
IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1990The degradation suffered when pulses satisfying the Nyquist criterion are used to transmit binary data at a rate faster than the Nyquist rate over the ideal band-limited (brick-wall) channel is studied. The minimum distance between received signals is used as a performance criterion. It is well-known that when Nyquist pulses (i.e. pulses satisfying the

Linear precoding for Faster-than-Nyquist signaling
2017 3rd IEEE International Conference on Computer and Communications (ICCC), 2017Faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signaling is a nonorthogonal transmission scheme, in which the pulses appear faster than the rate known from the Nyquist intersymbol interference (ISI)-free transmission criterion. Due to the violation of the Nyquist theorem, while a higher transmission rate is offered, ISI is introduced and the receiver complexity is greatly ...

Frequency-Domain Equalization of Faster-than-Nyquist Signaling
IEEE Wireless Communications Letters, 2013In this letter, motivated by the recent rediscovery of faster-than-Nyquist (FTN) signaling transmissions, we conceive a frequency-domain equalization (FDE)-assisted FTN receiver architecture, which is capable of attaining a low demodulating complexity. The proposed scheme is especially beneficial for a long channel tap FTN scenario.
