Maze Puzzle Pattern‐Based Static Reconfiguration of Photovoltaic Arrays for Enhanced Shade Dispersion and Power Generation Under Partial Shading Conditions

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A new maze puzzle pattern array (PPA) is presented to optimize shade allocation, alleviate the mismatch losses of PV (photovoltaic) arrays in partially shaded circumstances, and maximize output in partially shaded operation with zero extra sensors, switching components, and optimum searching schemes.

Environmental Control for Edible Fungi Cultivation Based on Temporal Information and Deep Learning

open access: yesFood Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Currently, there are still prevalent issues in greenhouse environmental regulation, such as response lag, low control accuracy, and difficulty in coping with sudden environmental disturbances. To achieve high‐precision and dynamic control of the edible fungi cultivation environment, this study proposes an edible fungi environmental control ...

Geometric proposals for faster R-CNN

open access: yes2017 14th IEEE International Conference on Advanced Video and Signal Based Surveillance (AVSS), 2017
Faster R-CNN has established itself as the de-facto best object detector but it remains strongly limited in two aspects: (i) it is sensitive to background clutter and its classification performance decreases when it is confronted with more noisy proposals; (ii) it suffers when the objects vary largely in scale and specifically for the small objects. We

GFD Faster R-CNN: Gabor Fractal DenseNet Faster R-CNN for Automatic Detection of Esophageal Abnormalities in Endoscopic Images

open access: yes, 2019
Esophageal cancer is ranked as the sixth most fatal cancer type. Most esophageal cancers are believed to arise from overlooked abnormalities in the esophagus tube. The early detection of these abnormalities is considered challenging due to their different appearance and random location throughout the esophagus tube. In this paper, a novel Gabor Fractal

Bird Audio Diarization with Faster R-CNN

2021
Birds embody particular phonic and visual traits that distinguish them from 10,000 distinct bird species worldwide. Birds are also perceived to be indicators of biodiversity due to their propensity for responding to changes in their environment. An effective, automatic wildlife monitoring system based on bird bioacoustics, which can support manual ...

Faster R-CNN Based Cephalometric Landmarks Detection

2021 IEEE AFRICON, 2021
The objective of this study is to identify cephalometric landmarks on 2D cephalograms (X-rays) using a two-stage Artificial Intelligence (AI) based object detection method. The proposed work implements a Faster Region-based Convolutional Neural Network (Faster R-CNN), a deep-neural network, which consists of a 50 layered Residual Network (ResNet50 ...

Scale-Aware Domain Adaptive Faster R-CNN

International Journal of Computer Vision, 2021
Object detection typically assumes that training and test samples are drawn from an identical distribution, which, however, does not always hold in practice. Such a distribution mismatch may lead to a significant performance drop. In this work, we present Scale-aware Domain Adaptive Faster R-CNN, a model aiming at improving the cross-domain robustness ...

Real-time smoke detection with Faster R-CNN

2021 2nd International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Information Systems, 2021
Fires must be put out as soon as possible, because many economic losses and lead valuable lives may be caused. In particular, smoke detection, which is often earlier in a fire, is of great importance. There are many difficulties in finding a smoke detection algorithm on basis of images.

2.5D Faster R-CNN for Distance Estimation

2018 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC), 2018
Estimating the distance of a target object from a single image is a challenging task since a large variation in the object appearance makes the regression of the distance difficult. In this paper, to tackle such the challenge, we propose 2.5D anchors which provide good candidates of distances, based on a perspective camera model.
