Cinnamon Intake Lowers Fasting Blood Glucose: Meta-Analysis
Journal of Medicinal Food, 2011Cinnamon, the dry bark and twig of Cinnamomum spp., is a rich botanical source of polyphenolics that has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine and has been shown to affect blood glucose and insulin signaling. Cinnamon's effects on blood glucose have been the subject of many clinical and animal studies; however, the issue of cinnamon intake's ...

Blood and cerebrospinal fluid glucose in the fasting state
American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1960A glucose oxidase method for determining glucose was used in analyzing the blood and cerebrospinal fluid in dogs. The animals were fasted from 66 to 84 hours and venous blood and cerebrospinal fluid samples were withdrawn simultaneously during this time.

Fasting blood glucose and HbA1c in children with ADHD
Psychiatry Research, 2015Reports of hypocortisolism and overweight in pediatric ADHD motivate an investigation of blood glucose regulation in this group. Fasting blood glucose and HbA1c were investigated in 10 children (10-15 years) with ADHD and 22 comparisons. Fasting blood glucose was similar in both groups. HbA1c values were higher in the ADHD-group.

Blood Glucose Lowering Effect of Verapamil in Fasted Man
Hormone and Metabolic Research, 2008The current study was performed in order to investigate whether verapamil would affect the basal blood glucose concentration in a metabolic state characterized by an increased hepatic gluconeogenesis. For that purpose verapamil (5 mg/h) was infused i.v.

Blood Glucose and Gluconeogenesis in Fasting Man
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1969Maintenance of blood glucose homeostasis in fasting man requires establishment of a fine balance between glucose production and utilization. Early in starvation, a decrease in serum insulin provides the alterations in substrate concentration and enzymatic activity conducive to augmented gluconeogenesis.

Effect of smoking on fasting blood glucose level
Lebda Medical Journal, 2019Â Objective: it is well known that smoking increases the risk of developing diabetes and induces increases on blood glucose level, so when people stop smoking we would expect better state. The present study was aimed to investigate the effect of smoking on the human blood glucose level of smokers and ex-smokers diabetic patients.

The Association Between Low Fasting Blood Glucose Value and Mortality
Current Diabetes Reviews, 2007Earlier studies and reviews have shown an association between high fasting blood glucose levels (FBG) and increased mortality. Less is known about the association between low FBG and mortality. This study aimed at reviewing the literature on this topic.

Repetitive skill deterioration with fast and exercise-lowered blood glucose
Physiology & Behavior, 1982Using a computerized system for measurement of the variability of force exerted at 26 points in each pedal revolution during the repetitive habituated task of cycling, healthy adult males 6 times performed for 20 minutes, either (a) 3 hours after a meal (fasting) or when so fasted and then fed glucose (b) immediately before, or (c) 30 minutes before ...

Fasting blood glucose levels in patients presenting for elective surgery
Nutrition, 2011The incidence of diabetes mellitus (DM) is increasing worldwide; however, its diagnosis is often delayed. Identifying patients with abnormal fasting blood glucose (FBG) levels preoperatively may have important implications for immediate and long-term outcomes. The aim of the present study was to determine the prevalence of impaired fasting glucose (IFG)

Oral Glucose Tolerance Test among Adolescents with Impaired Fasting Blood Glucose
Nigerian Health Journal, 2016Background: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is emerging as a major health problem even amongst children and adolescents. The onset is usually preceded by period of impaired glucose metabolism known as Impaired Fasting Glucose (IFG) and or Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT).
