Estimating neural activity from visual areas using functionally defined EEG templates

We present a new method that locates and estimates the contribution of brain sources to an electroencephalography (EEG) signal. This method recovers functional sources based on EEG templates, allowing comparisons across neuroimaging studies. It is robust, quick, easy to use, inexpensive, and can be applied to existing data sets.

Amyloid pathology and synaptic loss in pathological aging

Amyloid β (Aβ) peptide pattern together with five synaptic proteins were analyzed in post‐mortem brain tissue of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and pathological ageing (PA) patients. The Aβ peptide pattern was different between AD and PA, with higher relative amount of Aβ40 and pyroglutamated Aβ in AD and higher relative Aβ42 amount in PA.
