On the synergy between myelin proteins P0, MBP, and P2 in peripheral nerve major dense line formation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, Volume 292, Issue 15, Page 3960-3985, August 2025.
Myelin is a multilayered proteolipid membrane in the nervous system. The lipid membranes are held together by specific proteins, and here, we studied three such proteins—P0, MBP, and P2. Our experiments show that the three proteins may act in synergy at the molecular level, while they also compete for lipid membrane surface binding.

Do Formal Stance Strategies Reveal Disciplinary Variation in Professional Scientific Writing?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Linguistics, Volume 35, Issue 3, Page 1242-1261, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Stance in academic discourse has been extensively studied, with numerous investigations indicating that its expression varies across disciplines, depending on the authors’ intention to either enhance or diminish their voice or presence (e.g., It seems fairly certain vs. This is based on the belief that…).

Anatomical Guideline for Retrobulbar Hyaluronidase Injection

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 24, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Vision loss following cosmetic filler injections is a rare but devastating complication resulting from inadvertent intravascular embolization, most often affecting the ophthalmic artery. Retrobulbar hyaluronidase injection has been proposed as an emergency intervention, yet anatomical guidelines for its administration remain poorly ...

Transcriptional evidence of pluripotency during development of the leaf gall formed by grape phylloxera (Daktulosphaira vitifoliae)

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 4, Page 1712-1726, August 2025.
Summary Galls are structures formed by plants in response to stimuli by parasitic insects. Because galls require altered gene expression to change cell fates, their initiation requires pluripotent or ‘reactive’ cells. We used RNA sequencing to test three hypotheses about potential sources of pluripotency in the leaf gall formed by grape phylloxera ...

Which Factors Affect Functional Outcomes and Survival in Metastatic Humeral Fractures Treated With Nails?

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 8, Page 2342-2349, August 2025.
This study examines factors affecting functional outcomes and survival in 41 patients with metastatic humeral fractures treated with intramedullary nails. Actual fractures and shaft fractures showed better pain improvement. Patients with a known cancer diagnosis prior to fracture and older patients had poor functional outcomes.
