Pericardial rather than epicardial fat is a cardiometabolic risk marker: an MRI vs echo study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Several studies using echocardiography identified epicardial adipose tissue (EPI) as an important cardiometabolic risk marker. However, validation compared with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) or computed tomography has not been performed.

Plasma leptin levels in healthy children and adolescents: dependence on body mass index, body fat mass, gender, pubertal stage, and testosterone.

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, 1997
Leptin, the product of the ob gene, is thought to play a key role in the regulation of body fat mass. Beyond this function, it appears to be an integral component of various hypothalamo-pituitary-endocrine feedback loops.

Construction of hyperthermostable d‐allulose 3‐epimerase from Arthrobacter globiformis M30 using the sequence information from Arthrobacter psychrolactophilus

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
d‐Allulose can be produced from d‐fructose by d‐allulose 3‐epimerase. Based on sequence homology information, we successfully engineered thermostable mutants with the protein engineering method. By integrating positive mutations, we constructed an enzyme that exhibits hyperthermostability without a loss in the activity.

The interrelation between the Ketle index and the body component composition (muscle, fat, bone) in students with different levels of physical fitness

open access: yesСибирский научный медицинский журнал, 2020
The process of body mass increasing among the population becomes global, which updates the need for early diagnosis of obesity. An informative method of determining the body mass excess and obesity is the determination of muscle and fat components, as ...

Correlation between Body Mass Index and Body Fat Percentage

open access: yesAlthea Medical Journal, 2015
Background: Body mass index (BMI) has been used to determine the nutritional status which is classified into low, normal, overweight or obese. The BMI only shows a comparison of height and weight instead of body composition which consists of fat mass and
