Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Thermomechanical Fatigue of Lost Foam Cast Al–Si Cylinder Heads—Assessment of Crack Origin Based on the Evaluation of Pore Distribution

open access: yesMetals, 2019
In automotive cylinder heads, thermomechanical fatigue (TMF) leads to crack initiation within the critical loaded sections. This effect becomes even more relevant in lost foam cast cylinder heads since its system-dependent porosity shows a significant ...

Seismic Behavior of a Steel Beam-to-Concrete-Filled Steel Tubular Column Connection Using External Diaphragms

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
This paper investigates the seismic behavior of a steel beam-to-concrete-filled steel tubular column connection with external diaphragms. In addition to the multiple advantages observed for manufacturing and assembly, this type of connection is expected ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Predicting and Comparing the Subjective Health Experience of Older Cancer Survivors and Non‐Cancer Survivors: A Modeling Approach

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study underscores the significant influence of frailty and vitality on the subjective health experience of older cancer survivors with acceptance and control emerging as salient mediators. These findings affirm the conceptual and empirical robustness of the model highlighting its potential utility in shaping future interventions for older cancer ...

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

Multi-joint and Large Load Wing Load Processing Method

open access: yesHangkong gongcheng jinzhan, 2020
For test piece lacking the right outer wing portion, the many and complicated butt joints, and the large test load, will bring great difficulty to the application of the wing load. Therefore the independent loading clamp is designed for the three sets of

Anisotropic elastic–plastic properties of surface-modified layers of 18CrNiMo7-6 alloy steel after carburizing heat treatment determined by an indentation method

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
This work considers the analytical solution of the contact problem between a conical indenter and a transversely isotropic material, and uses a finite element method to determine the correction coefficient to implement in the analytical solution ...

Network Localization of Fatigue in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Fatigue is among the most common symptoms and one of the main factors determining the quality of life in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, the neurobiological mechanisms underlying fatigue are not fully understood. Here we studied lesion locations and their connections in individuals with MS, aiming to identify brain networks ...

Early pubertal timing is a risk factor for adolescent dysmenorrhea

open access: yesnpj Women's Health
Females who experience menarche early have elevated risk for dysmenorrhea; yet, other puberty features precede menarche. Using data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development Study®, pubertal timing was estimated via random effects linear growth ...
