Multimodal Analysis of Pilot’s Fatigue During a Multi-Phase Flight Mission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
One troubling threat to successful flight missions is attributed to fatigue induced and errors. Therefore, discovering effective methods to assess fatigue has been a major topic discussed by professional pilots and aviation experts.

Cross-Flow Vortex Induced Vibration Fatigue Analysis of Persian South Gas Field Subsea Pipelines Due to Multi-Spanning

open access: yesInternational Journal of Coastal and Offshore Engineering, 2016
Free-span in subsea pipelines occur at manmade supports, uneven seabed or pipeline crossing. Free spanning may induce pipeline vibration due to vortex shedding which makes pipeline susceptible to some failures such as fatigue, fracture, etc.

Metabolic Mechanisms of Vocal Fatigue [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Vocal fatigue is among the most debilitating conditions affecting individuals with voice disorders. Impressions about mechanisms potentially underlying vocal fatigue have varied depending on how fatigue is defined, participants studied, and measures made,

Evaluating a Pragmatic Strength Alternative for Frailty Measurement and Assessing Its Predictive Capacity Against Established Frailty Instruments in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Frailty occurs prematurely in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and is associated with poor health outcomes. We compared the performance of four frailty instruments, including a pragmatic alternative measure using chair sit‐to‐stand (STS), and evaluated their abilities to predict poor health outcomes.

Analytical Modeling of the Lazy-Wave Hydrogen Production Riser (HPR) with Incorporation of Seabed Interaction in the Touchdown Zone

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
Hydrogen production risers (HPRs) connected to floating offshore wind turbines (FOWTs) must be properly configured to minimize both the top-end tension at the hang-off point and the oscillation amplitude in the touchdown zone (TDZ) under environmental ...

The Fatigue Vector: A New Bi-dimensional Parameter for Muscular Fatigue Analysis

open access: yes, 2014
The aim of this study is to introduce a new parameter for fatigue investigations, which relies on a bi-dimensional analysis of sEMG signals in temporal and spectral domains. The new parameter, the Fatigue Vector, is defined in a space domain whose coordinates are the amplitude and the mean spectral frequency of the sEMG signal.

Developing and Evaluating a Laboratory‐Based Frailty Index for the Prediction of Long‐Term Health Outcomes in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to construct and evaluate the first laboratory‐based frailty index (FI‐Lab) for predicting adverse outcomes in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and to compare its predictive ability to that of an existing clinical FI. Methods We used data from a single‐center prospective cohort of adult patients with SLE whose baseline visit ...

Integrating Patient‐Reported Quality Measures in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Development of the American College of Rheumatology Implementation Guide

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective To support high‐quality, patient‐centered care for systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) developed evidence‐based measures incorporating clinical and patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs). Using the Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we conducted semistructured interviews ...
