Thermal Fatigue Analysis

1983
Many high temperature turbine components are subjected to rapid temperature changes during start-up and shutdown, leading to nonuniform heating and cooling. Repetition of such thermal loadings leads to thermal fatigue in critical hot section components such as blades, vanes, shrouds and combustors.

Thermal Fatigue Analysis

2011
Solder low-cycle fatigue damage caused by temperature changes is one major reliability concern in electronics. In the paper, two fundamental approaches to characterize the solder joint fatigue resistance are introduced: testing and theoretical modelling. Thermal test cycling, which is applied to the majority of electronic products, is discussed in more

Simplified elastoplastic fatigue analysis

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 1989
Abstract In design by analysis, the rules to avoid unacceptable fatigue damage require the true local strain range to be determined conservatively. This paper presents a review of simplified methods to estimate the local strain range by the Ke factor and also of experimental results.

Fatigue and thermal fatigue damage analysis of thin metal films

Microelectronics Reliability, 2006
In this paper, we summarize several testing methods that are currently available for the characterization of fatigue properties of thin metal films. Using these testing methods, a number of experimental investigations of the fatigue and thermal fatigue of metal films with thicknesses ranging from micrometers to sub-micrometers are described.

Stress-Based Fatigue Analysis High Cycle Fatigue

2012
So far, we have examined fatigue from a phenomenological point of view, describing the sequence of events that take place in metals from the early submicroscopic damage that precedes microcracks formation and eventually leads to the macrocrack generation.

Life Fatigue: A Critical Analysis

The American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry
In recent years, euthanasia has been decriminalized or legalized in several countries. The debate on whether to legalize such a practice is open in many places and is a topic that arouses great controversy. Euthanasia has been presented as a response to situations of advanced, incurable, or irreversible disease, or situations that cause intolerable ...

Strain-Based Fatigue Analysis—Low Cycle Fatigue

2012
When the plastic component the cyclic strain cannot be neglected and, indeed, prevails over the elastic one, stresses are no longer uniquely determined and must be put aside in the fatigue analysis. This is the case of structural discontinuities in general and of notches, in particular, where local strains can go well beyond the elastic limit of the ...

Fatigue Analysis of Risers

4th International Pipeline Conference, Parts A and B, 2002
This paper studies the fatigue problem of risers in marine platforms located in the Bay of Campeche, Mexico. Considering the future wave loads on these systems, the lifetime of these structures is obtained. Possibly, these systems have problems of fatigue in the zones where large stress concentrations appear.

Statistical Fatigue Failure Analysis

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 1981
Abstract A statistical fatigue failure analysis based on the Weibull weakest link concept is described and applied to notched and smooth specimen data to provide an interpretation of the size effect in fatigue results for SAE 4340 steel.

Computer-aided fatigue analysis

Computer-Aided Design, 1986
Abstract Despite the progress that has been made in the field of fracture mechanics, the state has not yet been reached where designers can readily use the method for mechanical design. The better known theories for predicting the fatigue life of a component require lengthy calculations.
