Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Data Assessment

Volume 4: Materials and Fabrication, 2021
Abstract A comprehensive fatigue test database was developed in PRCI SIA-1-1 and IM-3-2 projects, where there are 185 sets of fatigue crack growth rate parameters (i.e., C and m fitting coefficients in the Paris law) calculated from compact tension (CT) fatigue test data.

Fatigue crack path manipulation for crack growth rate measurement

Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 2016
Abstract It is accepted that fatigue crack paths in metals that display confined slip, such as high strength aluminium alloys, are responsive to loading direction and local microstructural orientation. It is less well recognised that crack paths in these alloys are also responsive to the loading history since certain loading sequences can produce ...

Variability in Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Testing

Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 1975
Abstract To provide the data necessary to develop a recommended practice for fatigue crack growth rate testing, an extensive interlaboratory (round robin) program was conducted and the variability and bias associated with the current state of the art of fatigue crack growth rate testing was determined.

Fatigue crack growth rate of zirconia ceramics

Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 1997
Abstract This paper investigates the fatigue crack growth behaviours of 3 mol% Y2O3 partially stabilized zirconia (Y-PSZ). Stable fatigue crack growth rate under tension-tension loading was measured from the indentation flaw under three-point bending. The influence of stress ratio on the fatigue crack growth rate was also studied.

Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Under Irregular Fatigue Loading

2003
An aircraft cracked component can be approximated as a wide plate with a centre-crack. The component is subjected to the following repeated load sequence: 5, 120, 15, 91, 18, 75, 40, 80, 10, 110 MPa. A crack of length 20 mm has been detected in the component.

Crack opening displacement and the rate of fatigue crack growth

International Journal of Fracture Mechanics, 1972
Using a direct proportionality between the rate of fatigue crack growth and crack opening displacement above a threshold, it is shown that fatigue crack growth data for a wide variety of different materials can be accurately described in terms of the mechanical properties and two material constants; the constant of proportionality A and the threshold ...

Frequency Dependence of Fatigue and Corrosion Fatigue Crack Growth Rate

2010 8th International Pipeline Conference, Volume 1, 2010
Corrosion fatigue and fatigue crack growth in air tests were comparatively conducted on an X52 pipelines steel. Fatigue crack growth rates in air were lower than corrosion fatigue crack growth rates due to the absence of hydrogen and mechanical dormancy arisen from low temperature creep at low cyclic frequencies.
