Predicting Flight by Flight Fatigue Crack Growth Rates
Journal of Aircraft, 1975Several crack growth prediction approaches are examined for their ability to predict both the magnitude and trend of fatigue crack growth rate data generated under transport wing flight simulation loading. Three cycle-bycycle accounting approaches, one with no load interaction and two which incorporate high-to-low load interaction, are studied.

Fatigue Crack Growth Rates in Six Pipeline Steels
Volume 2: Integrity Management; Poster Session; Student Paper Competition, 2006This study presents fatigue data for six different pipeline steels, with strengths ranging from Grade B to X100. A fatigue crack growth test for full thickness pipeline samples was developed using a Middle Tension (MT) type specimen. The six steels showed similar fatigue crack growth rate (da/dN) behavior.

Intrinsic statistical characteristics of fatigue crack growth rate
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1995Abstract An intrinsic probabilistic description of the whole range fatigue crack growth rate is proposed by accounting For the interaction of the quasi-static crack growth, the crack closure, and the crack growth threshold. The crack growth rate is shown to be reasonably well represented as a function of effective K factor when the quasi-static ...

A new fatigue crack growth rate testing method
Engineering Fracture Mechanics, 1984Abstract A test method has been developed which reliably and inexpensively provides the fatigue crack growth rate of materials at a given stress intensity amplitude. The new technique is termed the Constant ΔK Method. The specimen/test system is designed such that a constant stress intensity amplitude exists over the central portion of the test ...

The Analysis of Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Data
1979The analytical variables associated with the characterization of fatigue crack growth rate performance are discussed and the influence of these variables on predicted cyclic life is illustrated. It is shown that the analytical techniques chosen to process laboratory test results and to develop upper-bound design information can have a significant ...

Modelling thermomechanical fatigue crack growth rates in Ti_24Al_11Nb
International Journal of Fatigue, 1994Abstract A model is developed for predicting the crack growth rate in a titanium aluminide alloy under thermomechanical cycling. The model utilizes a linear summation of cycle-dependent and time-dependent terms, where the cycle-dependent behaviour is dependent on temperature as well as ΔK and R .

An Automated Fatigue Crack Growth Rate Test System
1985An automated fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) test system has been developed that can be used for tests of constant-load-amplitude FCGR above 10−8 m/cycle [ASTM Test Method for Constant-Load-Amplitude Fatigue Crack Growth Rates Above 10−8 m/Cycle (E 647-83)] at normal (∼ 10 Hz) or low (∼ 0.1 Hz) cyclic frequencies and for tests of near-threshold and ...
