A Time-Integral Crack Propagation Model Considering Thickness Effect

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
The crack propagation mechanism of thick plates is difficult to describe accurately, and thus, it is difficult to predict the lifetimes of thick plate structural cracks in extreme construction environments.

Modelling probabilistic fatigue crack propagation rates for a mild structural steel

open access: yesFracture and Structural Integrity, 2014
A class of fatigue crack growth models based on elastic–plastic stress–strain histories at the crack tip region and local strain-life damage models have been proposed in literature.

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Small Crack Propagation Behaviors of Simulated Specimens in a Ni-Based Superalloy

open access: yesMetals
The role of notch geometry and stress levels on fatigue crack initiation and small crack propagation behavior in the FGH96 superalloy was investigated using groove and bolt hole simulated specimens at 500 °C.

Fatigue Crack Propagation in Metals [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 1967
A RECENT paper by Pearson1 reports the results of crack propagation experiments on various metals, of which Young's moduli E range from 6.5 × 106 lb./in.2 to 30 × 106 lb./in.2. It was found that the fatigue crack propagation rates were sensibly equal when the applied stress f was a fixed proportion of E. I have recently obtained theoretical support for

Transforming Grain‐Boundary Brittle Precipitates to Ductility Pathways in Complex Concentrated Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By engineering graded BCC/L12 interfaces, brittle precipitates in a complex concentrated alloy enable sequential deformation, realizing gigapascal strength with >20% elongation to solve the strength‐ductility trade‐off. ABSTRACT Conventional wisdom holds that hard grain‐boundary (GB) precipitates embrittle structural alloys by acting as crack ...

Hierarchical Strain‐Modified Medium‐Entropy Carbide Ceramics Exhibit Exceptional Ablation Resistance up to 2400°C

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel strategy is developed by doping reduced graphene oxide (rGO) into a (HfZrTi)C medium‐entropy ceramic. This induces a hierarchical strain modification mechanism, synergistically inhibiting crack propagation at the microscale and dissipating stress at the mesoscale.

Difracción de rayos X y difracción de neutrones en estudios de fatiga y fractura de materiales [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Conferencia invitada de Joseph F KelleherThe fatigue behaviour of polycrystalline metals is often studied through crack propagation analysis [1,2]. Nevertheless, understanding the mechanical processes that take place right at the crack tip [3,4] would ...
