Modeling of Fatigue Crack Propagation
Journal of Engineering Materials and Technology, 2004Fatigue crack propagation was modeled by using the cyclic plasticity material properties and fatigue constants for crack initiation. The cyclic elastic-plastic stress-strain field near the crack tip was analyzed using the finite element method with the implementation of a robust cyclic plasticity theory.

Fatigue crack propagation—an analysis
Philosophical Magazine, 1968Abstract A simple theory is developed to assess quantitatively the mechanism of fatigue crack propagation in metals. The basic laws governing fatigue are derived theoretically for failure in both the high and low stress regions, and the material parameters controlling crack propagation determined.

Fatigue crack propagation in torsion
Journal of the Mechanics and Physics of Solids, 1957Abstract The redistribution of stress and strain in front of a growing crack in it twisted bar is derived, assuming the material to be ideally plastic. The result is used in connexion with a simple fracture criterion to determine the initial rate of growth of a fatigue crack. Experiments with torsion members are reported.
