In a narrower sense, creep means a time-dependent deformation caused by a constant stress or a constant load. A conceptual definition of fatigue damage is proposed to assist in the selection of measurement techniques and parameters for correlating damage with fatigue life. To illustrate the concept, a critical review of some typical damage parameters for composite materials is given.
