Baroreflex sensitivity index in chronic fatigue syndrome
IEEE 30th Annual Northeast Bioengineering Conference, 2004. Proceedings of the, 2004This paper provides a graphical evaluation of continuous cardiac baroreceptor measurement during a 45-minute 70-degree head-up tilt (HUT) of five groups of subjects suffering the following: chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS), CFS with fibromyalgia (CFS-FM), CFS with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (CFS-POTS), controls with POTS (CON-POTS), and ...

Bandwidth optimization of the fatigue index to estimate muscle fatigue during dynamic contractions
International Journal of Precision Engineering and Manufacturing, 2013In this study, a filter-based fatigue index (FIhlrOPT) was optimized to maximize the correlation with peak power. Cut-off frequencies of high-pass-filter were optimized to determine bandwidth for fatigue estimation. Thirty two subjects performed 5 sets of 10 knee extensions with 2 minutes of rest between each set.

Measurement of acute dynamic anaerobic muscle fatigue using a novel Fatigue Resistance Index
Isokinetics and Exercise Science, 2000A variety of isokinetic fatigue protocols have been previously reported in the literature. The purpose of this study was to examine a new protocol to objectively quantify dynamic concentric and eccentric muscle performance in individuals, or in a multiple subject group, under conditions of acute exhaustive exercise. Pre-fatigue maximal peak torque (PT)

Anorectal manometry: are fatigue rate and fatigue rate index of any clinical importance?
Techniques in Coloproctology, 2005Loss of voluntary contraction of the external anal sphincter is thought to be a factor in fecal incontinence. During anal manometry, computerized systems produce several parameters including fatigue rate (FR), which is the basis for calculating the fatigue rate index (FRI).

Measurement of Fatigue in HIV-Positive Adults: Reliability and Validity of the Global Fatigue Index
Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, 2001Fatigue is among the most common and distressing symptoms in patients with HIV/AIDS. Little is known about the clinical assessment of fatigue, especially in patients using highly active antiretroviral regimens. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Global Fatigue Index (GFI) in a community-based sample of 209 ...

Perceptual fluctuation as a fatigue index.
Journal of Experimental Psychology, 1939Evidence is presented which shows that the effect of fatigue on the fluctuation of illusions of reversible perspective is to increase the rate of fluctuation, thus shortening the intervals of appearance, rather than prolonging them, as reported by McDougall.

Simple Indexes to Identify Fatigue Performance of Asphalt Concrete
Journal of Testing and Evaluation, 2018Abstract Using indexes based on engineering properties is among the ways to evaluate the quality of an asphalt concrete mix in terms of its resistance to fatigue cracking. These indexes typically are developed based on measuring asphalt concrete or asphalt binder properties in a laboratory test.

Study on index of visual fatigue of VDT work
2011 IEEE 2nd International Conference on Computing, Control and Industrial Engineering, 2011This study was designed to evaluate the eye movement parameter of visual fatigue induced during the VDT work, using the sensors to simultaneously record focal eye movement. Inside different time and tasks, the changes in these physiological measures, taken during different VDT tasks, were used to propose an index for evaluating visual fatigue.
