Prediction of Acoustic Fatigue Life
1961Current procedures used by the airframe industry for predicting fatigue life of structures loaded by high-energy acoustical noise are reviewed. Deficiences in the methods are discussed and future work is suggested. The need for spectrum-type fatigue tests is emphasized.

Fatigue-life predictions on microcomputers
Computer-Aided Design, 1987This paper presents a fatigue-life prediction program which is written on an IBM PC computer. The main purpose of the computer program is to provide designers and engineers with a fatigue-life prediction program which encompasses the current state of the art in fatigue.

Cumulative damage and fatigue life prediction
AIAA Journal, 1988A cumulative damage rule is proposed for fatigue of metals under variable stress-amplitude loading. The rule is nonlinear and takes into account the sequence of stress levels, i.e., high-to-low or low-to-high changes of stress amplitudes. To facilitate probabilistic estimates of safety of structural elements subjected to fatigue loading, a stochastic ...

Statistical prediction of the fatigue life of structures
Strength of Materials, 19851. The relative scatter (variance factor) of the number of cycles of crack extension by the given length depends on the magnitude of this extension and is independent of the range of the stress intensity factor. 2. Relationships were derived, and their adequacy to the experimental data was verified, for estimating the total relative ...

Fatigue Life Prediction of Structures
1994Fatigue life prediction problems are discussed from the viewpoint of probabilistic mechanics of solids and structures. A survey of random factors in damage and fracture is presented with a special emphasis on the statistical scatter of mechanical properties of materials and/or structural components.

Fatigue Life Prediction Of Tubular Nodes
Offshore Technology Conference, 1980ABSTRACT Large scale specimens of X-joints were tested in fatigue, either in tension or in in-plane bending (R=O.1). Similar specimens (size ratio 1/2) were tested in order to estimate the scale effect. y was chosen here from 8 to 12, at the limit of the validity of any shell-theory.

Fatigue life prediction of ceramic-matrix composites
Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 2018Purpose This paper aims to predict fatigue life and fatigue limit of fiber-reinforced ceramic-matrix composites (CMCs) with different fiber preforms, i.e. unidirectional, cross-ply, 2D-, 2.5D- and 3D-woven, at room and elevated temperatures. Design/methodology/approach Under cyclic loading, matrix multicracking and interface debonding occur upon ...

A Note on Fatigue Scatter and Life Predictions
1980One of the major problems in predicting fatigue life for service components from laboratory data is that the scatter of laboratory data often differs from that of actual service components. In this note a method to estimate fatigue lives from crack propagation models is presented.

Fatigue and Life Prediction of Gears
1996AbstractThis article summarizes the various kinds of gear wear, including fatigue, impact fracture, wear, and stress rupture, describes how gear life in service is estimated. It presents the rules concerning lubricants in designing gearing and analyzing failures of gears. The article presents the equations for determining surface durability and life of
