Special Issue on a Fault Tolerant Network on Chip Architecture
AIP Conference Proceedings, 2010In this paper a fast and efficient spare switch selection algorithm is presented in a reliable NoC architecture based on specific application mapped onto mesh topology called FERNA. Based on ring concept used in FERNA, this algorithm achieves best results equivalent to exhaustive algorithm with much less run time improving two parameters.

Reliability and fault-tolerant issues of multiprocessor and multicomputer systems
Sadhana, 1987This paper deals with the reliability and fault-tolerance evaluation of multiprocessor and multicomputer architectures considering the degradation of both computation and communication capabilities. Reliability and performance availability (pa) are used to characterize and evaluate the dependability of these architectures.

Fault-tolerance and reconfigurability issues in massively parallel architectures
Proceedings of Conference on Computer Architectures for Machine Perception, 2002Fault tolerance is a basic requirement for many applications of massively parallel architectures; these, in turn, provide the opportunity to exploit regularity of the architecture to perform reconfiguration with a relatively simple interconnection structure and reduced number of spare elements.

Design issues for fault tolerant-restructurable aircraft control
1985 24th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control, 1985This paper discusses the problem of accommodating failures in aircraft. Techniques which may be used to either passively tolerate or actively detect and compensate for component failures and damage are reviewed, and suggestions are made for integrating these techniques into a restructurable flight control system (RFCS).

A tutorial on fault tolerance issues with applications in distributed systems
Microelectronics Reliability, 1990Abstract Fault tolerance is the ability of a system to perform its function reliably in the presence of faulty hardware or software components. For a system to have this property, many separate issues are involved: fault confinement, fault detection, fault masking, retry, diagnosis, reconfiguration, recovery, restart, repair, and reintegration. These

Yield and layout issues in fault tolerant VLSI architectures
[1991] Proceedings. Fourth CSI/IEEE International Symposium on VLSI Design, 1991Yield and layout are two important but often ignored issues in the design of fault tolerant VLSI systems. The authors present a framework for the systematic analysis of yield and area-efficient layout of fault-tolerant architectures. A multiple level redundancy tree is considered as a target architecture to demonstrate their analysis technique. >

Design Issues in High Performance Fault-Tolerant Multicomputers
1987There are a number of upcoming applications in space and defense systems which require computing with very high levels of both performance and dependability. The computer architectures generally believed to be most applicable with regard to performance requirements are highly parallel structures which make use of large numbers of processors operating ...

Reliability and fault tolerance issues in intelligent computing systems
Proceedings. 5th IEEE International Symposium on Intelligent Control 1990, 2002An overview of important technical issues associated with the reliability and fault tolerance of intelligent computing systems is presented. Four specific topics are covered, including : (1) fundamental concepts in fault-tolerant computing, (2) dependability measures, (3) fault tolerance in real-time systems, and (4) fault tolerance in neural networks.

Basic concepts and issues in fault-tolerant distributed systems
2005The dependability of computing services will become increasingly important in the 90s and beyond. This paper proposes a small number of basic concepts that can be used to explain the architecture of present and future fault-tolerant distributed systems and discusses a list of architectural issues that we find useful to consider when designing or ...
