Resolving Non-Proportional Frequency Components in Rotating Machinery Signals Using Local Entropy Selection Scaling–Reassigning Chirplet Transform [PDF]

open access: yes
Under complex operating conditions, vibration signals from rotating machinery often exhibit non-stationary characteristics with non-proportional and closely spaced instantaneous frequency (IF) components.

Optimal Control Drives Ultrafast and Energy‐Efficient Magnetization Switching in Van der Waals Magnets

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The accelerating expansion of data‐centric technologies is sharply increasing the energy burden of information storage, placing unprecedented pressure on the efficiency of magnetic switching. Conventional field‐driven reversal, once the foundation of magnetic memory, has become impractical in modern architectures due to its high energy cost ...

Enhancing classification performance over noise and imbalanced data problems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This research presents the development of techniques to handle two issues in data classification: noise and imbalanced data problems. Noise is a significant problem that can degrade the quality of training data in any learning algorithm.

A Porous Interfacial Photothermal Layer of Fused Core–Shell Carbon‐Polymer Nanospheres for Directional Salt Crystallization and Zero‐Liquid‐Discharge

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A hierarchical hydrogel evaporator with a thin, porous photothermal layer of fused core–shell carbon‐polymer nanospheres enables ultrafast interfacial solar evaporation with minimized heat loss and sufficient water supply. Directional advection‐dominated brine transport, coupled with Marangoni‐driven interfacial flow, drives salt away from the active ...

From Behavior to Dynamics: Decoding Carrier Roles in Cu‐based Photocathodes for Solar‐Driven CO2 Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The performance of Cu‐based photocathodes in photoelectrochemical CO2 reduction is not governed by catalytic sites alone, but by the dynamic journey of photogenerated carriers. This review decodes how carrier generation, recombination, transport, accumulation, extraction, and electrolyte coupling shape catalytic activity, selectivity, and stability ...

Comparative Analysis of Work Function Measurement Techniques Based on Scanning Probe Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Non‐contact scanning probe microscopy visualizes the surface topography based on surface electronic properties. The tunneling current, which defines the geometry of the tunnel–junction, has to overcome the effective surface work function barrier to reach the probe from the surface.
