Responses of Stream Geomorphic Indices to Piedmont Fault Activity in the Northern Segment of the Red River Fault Zone

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2023
Based on a digital elevation model (DEM) and GIS technology, we extracted and analyzed stream geomorphic indices—such as the slope, relief degree of the land surface (RDLS), hypsometric integral (HI) and channel steepness index (ksn)—of the Cangshan ...

The role of gas emissions (He, Rn, and CO2) from fault zones in understanding fault and seismic activity

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Active fault zones are critical pathways for the migration of deep fluids to the Earth’s surface, carrying gases such as He, Rn, and CO2 that provide evidence for the physical and chemical dynamics of the Earth’s interior.

Conservative Evaluation of Fault Displacement Hazard for a Nuclear Site in Case of Insufficient Data on the Fault Activity

open access: yesGeosciences
The safety regulations require periodic reviews of the site hazards when operating nuclear power plants. If any indications of Quaternary fault activity are revealed, the fault displacement hazard should be evaluated.

Influence of Regional Erosion and Sedimentary Loading on Fault Activities in Active Fold-Thrust Belts: Insights From Discrete Element Simulation and the Southern and Central Longmen Shan Fold-Thrust Belt

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2021
Four groups of discrete element models (DEMs) were set-up to simulate and analyze the influence of regional erosion and sedimentary loading on the formation and spatial-temporal evolution of faults in the southern and central Longmen Shan (LMS) active ...

open access: yesDizhen xuebao, 2023
