Petrogenetic and geochemical characteristics of some auriferous granitoids in the Kumasi Basin, Ghana: Implications for geodynamic settings and controls of orogenic gold mineralization in the Edikan Gold Mine

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The Fobinso granitoids are granodiorites, while the Esuajah granitoids are granites based on their mineralogical composition. The granitoids are generally enriched in LILE and LREE than HFSE, MREE, and HREE, indicating mixing with crustal sources during their evolution.

Crustal structure beneath the Trondelag Platform and adjacent areas of the Mid-Norwegian margin, as derived from wide-angle seismic and potential field data [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The outer mid-Norwegian margin is characterized by strong breakup magmatism and has been extensively surveyed. The crustal structure of the inner continental shelf, however, is less studied, and its relation to the onshore geology, Caledonian structuring,

Rocketquake Seismology with a Falcon 9 Rocket Source [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We investigate the feasibility of using rocket launches, specifically rocketquakes, as a seismic source to image subsurface velocity and geology of planetary bodies. Toward this goal, we record the seismic vibrations excited by a Falcon 9 rocket launch from Vandenberg Space Force Base (SFB) near Lompoc, California.

Ground vibration isolation using mass scatters: A comparative study with trench barriers and wave‐impeding blocks

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Ground‐borne vibrations are a frequent source of environmental problems. A full‐scale experiment is conducted to validate a 3D numerical model in order to analyze the efficiency of three methods of isolation. Trench barriers and wave‐impeding blocks are impractical and expensive methods of isolation, but mass scatters appear to be an efficient ...

Improving Seismic Fault Recognition with Self-Supervised Pre-Training: A Study of 3D Transformer-Based with Multi-Scale Decoding and Fusion

open access: yesRemote Sensing
Seismic fault interpretation holds great significance in the fields of geophysics and geology. However, conventional methods of seismic fault recognition encounter various issues.

Optimal mud pressure design using nonlinear failure criteria for wellbores in shaley sedimentary reservoir

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The present study uses the Modified Mohr‐Coulomb true‐triaxial failure criterion (MMC_TT), which predicts the strength of rock better than the MGC criterion in laboratory true‐triaxial tests to overcome the limitations. Moreover, based on the data from previously published five vertical wells in the Krishna‐Godavari basin (K‐G basin), an empirical ...
