2015 Workshop on Fault Diagnosis and Tolerance in Cryptography (FDTC), 2015Differential Fault Analysis (DFA) attacks are well known to cryptanalyse embedded cryptographic algorithms. However, efficient countermeasures exist and most devices are now secured against this kind of attacks. In the same way, Safe Error attacks avoid most of DFA countermeasures but they can not break a masked implementation.

Model-Implemented Fault Injection for Hardware Fault Simulation
2010 Workshop on Model-Driven Engineering, Verification, and Validation, 2010This paper presents how model-implemented fault injection can be utilized to simulate the effect of hardware-related faults in embedded systems. A fault injection environment has been developed to enable comparison of experiments at model level and hardware level using Simulink and an Infineon microcontroller, respectively.

Testing Fault-Tolerant Protocols by Heuristic Fault Injection
1991A fault-tolerant protocol is defined by the exchange of messages providing correct results to those units which are free of operation faults. We propose a hierarchical test strategy with heuristic fault case generation at the message layer to test whether a fault-tolerant protocol is able to tolerate the pre-defined faults.
