Fault injection for formal testing of fault tolerance
IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1996This study addresses the use of fault injection for explicitly removing design/implementation faults in complex fault-tolerance algorithms and mechanisms (FTAM), viz, fault-tolerance deficiency faults. A formalism is introduced to represent the FTAM by a set of assertions.

Dynamic Fault Injection Countermeasure
2013Nowadays Fault Injection is the main threat for any sensitive applications being executed on embedded devices. Indeed, such an attack allows one to efficiently recover any secret or to gain unauthorized privileges if no appropriate countermeasure is implemented.

Testing Fault-Tolerant Protocols by Heuristic Fault Injection
1991A fault-tolerant protocol is defined by the exchange of messages providing correct results to those units which are free of operation faults. We propose a hierarchical test strategy with heuristic fault case generation at the message layer to test whether a fault-tolerant protocol is able to tolerate the pre-defined faults.
