Micropleated Nanofibrous Filters for High‐Efficiency Submicron Aerosol Filtration: A Comparative Study with Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear Gas Mask Filters

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents micropleated filters manufactured by needleless electrospinning. Nanofibers are deposited onto uniaxially pre‐stretched substrates that contract upon release, forming densely packed micropleats. This architecture increases effective surface area without enlarging the filter size, achieving quality factors comparable to those of ...

Fault isolator tool for software fault tree analysis

open access: yes, 1995
Software Fault Tree Analysis (SETA) is a technique used to analyze software for faults that could lead to hazardous conditions in systems which contain software components. A necessary element of a SETA process is the construction of software fault trees based upon the syntactical structure of the software being analyzed. The specific problem addressed

Isolation of Multiple-faults with Generalized Fault-modes

open access: yes, 2002
Most AI approaches for fault isolation handle only the behavioral modes OK and NOT OK. To be able to isolate faults in components with generalized behavioral modes, a new framework is needed. By introducing domain logic and assigning the behavior of a component to a behavioral mode domain, efficient representation and calculation of diagnostic ...

Adaptable Tile‐Based Pneumatic Origami through Structurally Coupled Localized Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents tile‐based pneumatic origami structures with rigid tiles and flexible fabric creases, achieving adaptable properties including morphing shape, selective multistability, and tunable stiffness. Independently pressurized folding bladders at each crease enable structurally coupled localized actuation of origami structures.
