Fault isolation in grey systems

International Test Conference 1988 Proceeding@m_New Frontiers in Testing, 2003
The concepts of grey, white, and black systems are formally introduced and developed into logic testing area, i.e. the area of error detection and fault isolation, to find a direction to establish more efficient test schemes for testing digital systems at a reasonable cost.

Fault isolation via components simulation

IEEE Transactions on Circuit Theory, 1972
The problem of deducing the internal component parameters from external measurements of a large-scale system is studied in the context of the fault isolation problem. By assuming an appropriate algebraic connection model matrix, algebraic necessary and sufficient conditions for the exact determination of the internal component parameters are obtained ...

Model extraction for fault isolation

2004 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man and Cybernetics (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37583), 2005
This paper presents a simulation-based approach for fault isolation in complex dynamic systems. A machine learning technique is used to extract, from simulated data, models representing regularities in system behavior. A heuristic based on the degree of coverage of the model on the data is then applied to isolate faults. To test tolerance to incomplete

Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI)

2012
With the growing use of complex systems, there has been considerable interest in the development of techniques to detect and isolate faults. An undetected fault in a system can have catastrophic effects such as loss of human life, environmental pollution and financial losses.

Robust fault isolation observer design

Proceedings of the 1999 American Control Conference (Cat. No. 99CH36251), 1999
Presents two robust fault isolation observer design approaches for linear uncertain systems. The proposed fault isolation observer is robust to structural uncertainties by producing disturbance decoupled residuals. The first method uses a direct eigenstructure assignment scheme to make a diagonal transfer function between faults and residual.

Fault Detectability, Isolability and Identifiability

2013
Fault detectability, isolability and identifiability describe structural properties of a dynamic system, which are of fundamental importance in dealing with the analysis and synthesis of model-based FDI systems. This chapter gives the definitions and existence conditions of fault detectability, isolability and identifiability, and together with them ...
