Comparison of specifications and measurement signals of two type sensors that measure heartbeat information at the fingertip

open access: yesMeasurement: Sensors, 2021
We compared and verified the signal waveforms and specifications measured by two sensors that can detect heartbeat information from the fingertips. A Photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor, which is a photo-electric volume pulse wave sensor, and an Fiber ...

Code Division Multiplexing Applied to FBG Sensing Networks: FBG Sensors Designed as Discrete Prolate Spheroidal Sequences (DPSS-FBG Sensors) [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Lightwave Technology, 2017
[EN] We propose and demonstrate a sensing system with fiber Bragg grating sensors designed as discrete prolate spheroidal sequences (DPSS). In this way, we can encode all of the sensing devices in the network making sure that each sensor is completely distinguishable from each other even under overlapping conditions.

Sensitivity Enhancement of FBG-Based Strain Sensor [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2018
A novel fiber Bragg grating (FBG)-based strain sensor with a high-sensitivity is presented in this paper. The proposed FBG-based strain sensor enhances sensitivity by pasting the FBG on a substrate with a lever structure. This typical mechanical configuration mechanically amplifies the strain of the FBG to enhance overall sensitivity.

Interferometric time division FBG interrogator and multiplexer with static, dynamic, and absolute wavelength measurement capabilities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We report on the design and preliminary testing of an interferometric interrogator capable of large-scale time-division multiplexing of FBG sensors. The scheme employs a passive algorithm for phase demodulation, allowing changes in FBG sensor reflected ...

Multiplexing Techniques for FBG Sensors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
One of the main goals of fiber optic sensor technology is to multiplex together a high number of sensors in the same fiber in order to share expensive terminal equipment and reduce the size and weight of the optical cable. Both passive and active multiplexing techniques are used for telemetry in sensor networks.
