FBG sensors for structural health monitoring
SPIE Proceedings, 2001Two homemade FBG (Fiber Brag Grating) sensors were installed on specific locations of a small-scale three-story structure model. The model was excited by various kinds of vibrations and the dynamic strain data were measured. In order to make a full comparison, the traditional RSG sensors were also installed on the same location of the FBG sensors.

Temperature-independent FBG-type torsion sensor
SPIE Proceedings, 2005A novel temperature-independent FBG-type torsion sensor has been proposed and analyzed. Two FBGs with different Bragg wavelengths are symmetrically bonded to the surface of the torsion beam with the identical angle. The principle of temperature-independent is derived from the sensing principle of fiber Bragg grating.

Research on a bimetallic-sensitized FBG temperature sensor
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2023Temperature measurement is of great significance for research in the health monitoring of large structures and earthquake precursors. Against the frequently reported low sensitivity of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) temperature sensors, a bimetallic-sensitized FBG temperature sensor was proposed. The sensitization structure of the FBG temperature sensor was

Counting wavelength demodulation of FBG sensors
Optoelectronics Letters, 2007Measuring amplitude of signal is the usual method in wavelength demodulation of fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors recently. This method is easy to be disturbed and has low precision. In this paper, a novel counting wavelength demodulation scheme of FBG sensors using a high birefringent fiber (HBF) loop mirror is reported.

Frequency-shifted multiwavelength FBG laser sensor
2002 15th Optical Fiber Sensors Conference Technical Digest. OFS 2002(Cat. No.02EX533), 2003We propose and demonstrate a novel frequency-shifted FBG (fiber Bragg grating) laser sensor system. It is composed of an EDFA (erbium-doped fiber amplifier) broadband light source, 3-FBG array, single mode fiber, circulator, acousto-optic modulator (AOM) and an output 3dB fiber coupler.

Sensitivity enhancement of FBG temperature sensor
SPIE Proceedings, 2012We used a bimetallic strip to increase the sensitivity of a fiber Bragg grating temperature sensor. The temperatureinduced deflection of the strip strained the FBG sensor, increasing the Bragg wavelength shift in addition to the temperature-induced one.

Sensor monitoring system with embedded FBGs
2014 16th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2014In this paper, we propose a simple monitoring system with the use of specially fabricated Fibre Bragg Gratings (FBGs) and Optical Power Meter (OPM). The main idea bases on stable and easy to build system for environmental parameters measurements using in-line fused FBGs. Here are presented the results of temperature measurement monitoring system.

Drift in high-temperature FBG sensors
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Fiber Bragg gratings are reported that are optimized for low wavelength drift, making them suitable for high- accuracy temperature measurements over extended periods of time. Our gratings show drift in the order of a few 10's of pm over 1,300 h at up to 650°C.

Modelling and Characterization of FBG Sensors
2019 Zooming Innovation in Consumer Technologies Conference (ZINC), 2019In this paper, modelling and characterization of strain and temperature sensors based on fiber Bragg grating is presented. Simulation of FBG sensors behavior demonstrates very good measurement linearity for both strain and temperature. Simulation results were experimentally verified using two common methods for FBG interrogation.

Optoacoustic microscopy based on pi-FBG ultrasound sensors
SPIE Proceedings, 2017We present an optoacoustic (photoacoustic) microscopy (OAM) imaging system that uses a pi-shifted Fiber Bragg Grating (pi-FBG) as ultrasound (US) sensor. The sensor has an ultra-small footprint and hence allows for the detection of optoacoustic signals in close proximity to their origin.
