Spectral performances of PAPR reduced FBMC/OQAM signals

2016 International Symposium on Wireless Communication Systems (ISWCS), 2016
This article presents the evaluation of out-of-band spectral pollution caused by the nonlinearities of the PA at the RF front-end for FBMC/OQAM signals, as well as the improvement of those spectral performances thanks to an envelope dynamic reduction method based on precoding.

Low-Complexity Pipelined Architecture for FBMC/OQAM Transmitter

IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II: Express Briefs, 2016
Filter-bank multi-carrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) is considered by recent research projects as a key enabler for the future 5G air interface. It exhibits better spectrum shape and improves mobility support compared to orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM).

On the Use of Precoding in FBMC/OQAM Systems

Anais de VII International Telecommunications Symposium, 2010
Abstract?Linear precoding can be applied to multicarrier systems to minimize the effect that a deep fade in one of the subchannels can have on the overall bit error ratio when the transmitter does not have channel state information (CSI). But for filterbank multicarrier (FBMC) systems, which were proposed to overcome the poor spectral characteristics ...

Channel Equalization for Multi-Antenna FBMC/OQAM Receivers

IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, 2011
In this paper, the problem of channel equalization in filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) transmission based on the offset quadrature-amplitude modulation (OQAM) subcarrier modulation is addressed. Finite impulse response (FIR) per-subchannel equalizers are derived based on the frequency sampling (FS) approach, both for the single-input multiple-output ...

FBMC-OQAM with phase noise: Achievable performance and compensation

2017 IEEE 18th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2017
Utilization of millimeter-wave bands by next generation mobile networks is expected to make extremely high data rates realizable. However, at such high frequencies, phase noise (PHN) can significantly affect the performance of the communication system.

Tail shortening by virtual symbols in FBMC-OQAM signals

2015 IEEE Signal Processing and Signal Processing Education Workshop (SP/SPE), 2015
Filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC-OQAM) signaling offers almost the full spectral efficiency (one complex symbol per unit area in the time-frequency plane) for long data packets. However, because of the ramp-up and ramp-down of the waveform at the beginning and the end of each packet, its spectral efficiency can

On pilot-symbol aided channel estimation in FBMC-OQAM

2016 IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech and Signal Processing (ICASSP), 2016
Filter bank multicarrier modulation is considered as a possible candidate for 5G. In this paper, we consider pilot-symbol aided channel estimation and address the problem of canceling the imaginary interference at the pilot positions. We develop a matrix formulation for the transmission system which allows us to formulate general conditions on the ...

CFO and channel estimation for SIMO-FBMC/OQAM systems

2017 23rd Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC), 2017
A training-based two-step approach which addresses carrier frequency offset (CFO) and channel frequency response (CFR) estimation in single-input multiple-output (SIMO)-filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) systems based on offset quadrature amplitude modulation (OQAM), is presented.

Finer SVD-Based Beamforming for FBMC/OQAM Systems

2016 IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM), 2016
The combination of singular value decomposition (SVD)-based beamforming and filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) has not been successful to date. The difficulty of this combination is that, the beamformers may change dramatically between adjacent subchannels, therefore destroy the orthogonality of FBMC/OQAM ...
