Advanced Chromatic Dispersion Compensation in Optical Fiber FBMC-OQAM Systems

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We report on several methods for the chromatic dispersion (CD) compensation in optical fiber offset-QAM-based filterbank multicarrier (FBMC-OQAM) systems.

A margin adaptive scheduling algorithm for FBMC/OQAM systems [PDF]

open access: yes2014 11th International Symposium on Wireless Communications Systems (ISWCS), 2014
This paper addresses the margin adaptive problem for the filter bank multicarrier (FBMC) modulation based on the offset QAM (OQAM), referred to as FBMC/OQAM. The analysis conducted in this paper reveals that due to the specific FBMC/OQAM transmission format the system has to deal with inter-user, inter-symbol and inter-carrier interference to solve the

Frame Boundary Detection and Deep Learning-Based Doppler Shift Estimation for FBMC/OQAM Communication System in Underwater Acoustic Channels

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2022
Underwater acoustic (UWA) communication is the only option for underwater long-distance wireless communication. However, its data rate is very low, in tens of kbps, and the time-varying nature of the UWA channel exhibits a Doppler effect.

A suboptimal power allocation algorithm for FBMC/OQAM

open access: yes2012 IEEE 13th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2012
This paper tackles the sum-rate maximization in FBMC systems. It is well-known that multipath fading destroys the orthogonality of the subcarriers, which brings a non-convex problem that can be interpreted as the maximization of a difference of concave functions.

Joint Active User Detection, Timing Offset and Channel Estimation for FBMC‐Based Uplink Massive Access Systems

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The robustness against timing offsets of filter bank multi‐carrier (FBMC) is appealing for grant‐free massive access scenarios that mainly adopt asynchronous transmissions. In this work, we propose a compressed sensing based algorithm for joint active user detection as well as timing offset and channel estimation in uplink communication under the ...

ALTERNATIVE LOW-COMPLEXITY APPROACHES FOR PAPR REDUCTION IN FBMC-OQAM SYSTEMS [PDF]

open access: yesCarpathian Journal of Electrical Engineering, 2023
Recently, the Filter Bank Multi-Carrier with Offset-QAM modulation (FBMC-OQAM) system proved to be a strong candidate wave that can replace the conventional OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) through several properties in future mobile ...

Receiver design for CDMA‐FBMC/ OQAM systems [PDF]

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2020
This Letter documents BER performance analysis of orthogonal affine precoder (OAP)‐based CDMA filter bank multi‐carrier offset QAM (CDMA‐FBMC/OQAM) systems. The use of OAP cancels the interference introduced by simultaneous transmission of data and training sequence during channel estimation and data detection.

Reducing the Peak to Average Power Ratio of UFMC Waveform for Beyond 5G System Using Hybrid SLM+PTS+RNN Algorithms

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This article proposes a hybrid SLM+PTS+RNN algorithm to mitigate the high PAPR challenge in UFMC systems for B5G networks. The method significantly improves power efficiency (by 30%–40%) while maintaining BER and PSD performance, outperforming traditional PAPR reduction techniques.

An Efficient Preamble Design Based on Comb-Type Pilots for Channel Estimation in FBMC/OQAM Systems

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
In this paper, we propose an efficient preamble design based on comb-type pilots (CTP) for channel estimation in filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) systems.
