Peak-to-Average Power Ratio Reduction of FBMC/OQAM Signal Using a Joint Optimization Scheme

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
Owing to the signal structure difference between the filter bank multicarrier with offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FBMC/OQAM) and the orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) systems, the existing technologies to reduce the peak-to ...

On Spectral Coexistence of CP-OFDM and FB-MC Waveforms in 5G Networks

open access: yes, 2017
Future 5G networks will serve a variety of applications that will coexist on the same spectral band and geographical area, in an uncoordinated and asynchronous manner.

Joint Active User Detection, Timing Offset and Channel Estimation for FBMC‐Based Uplink Massive Access Systems

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
The robustness against timing offsets of filter bank multi‐carrier (FBMC) is appealing for grant‐free massive access scenarios that mainly adopt asynchronous transmissions. In this work, we propose a compressed sensing based algorithm for joint active user detection as well as timing offset and channel estimation in uplink communication under the ...

Software Implementation and Cyclic Feature Characterization of Nu-FBMC/OQAM Signals

open access: yesIEEE Access
An extended frequency spread (FS) multicarrier system based on the filter bank and offset quadrature amplitude modulation (FS-FBMC/OQAM) approach applied to a critically sampled nonuniform FBMC/OQAM (Nu-FBMC/OQAM) transmission, using subchannel ...

Distortion analysis in OQAM/FBMC-based OFDMA [PDF]

open access: yes2015 IEEE 16th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2015
The paper considers an OFDMA scheme based on OQAM/FBMC and evaluates the interaction of the different users to one another under strong frequency selectivity or timing synchronization errors between users. More specifically, due to imperfect equalization, each user contributes to a distortion component in the received signal.

Reducing the Peak to Average Power Ratio of UFMC Waveform for Beyond 5G System Using Hybrid SLM+PTS+RNN Algorithms

open access: yesIET Communications, Volume 19, Issue 1, January/December 2025.
This article proposes a hybrid SLM+PTS+RNN algorithm to mitigate the high PAPR challenge in UFMC systems for B5G networks. The method significantly improves power efficiency (by 30%–40%) while maintaining BER and PSD performance, outperforming traditional PAPR reduction techniques.

Per Coefficient Filter Optimization for Rectangular and Quincunx QAM-FBMC

open access: yesIEEE Access
Quadrature amplitude modulation based filter-bank multicarrier (QAM-FBMC) is a promising technology for future wireless communication systems. When we compare QAM-FBMC systems with the classical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM), QAM-FBMC

A Discrete Bit Loading Algorithm for FBMC/OQAM [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2012
In this letter the discrete rate maximization problem is investigated for FBMC/OQAM. The analysis reveals that if there is crosstalk certain bit allocations violate the power constraints. Aiming at ensuring the feasibility along with alleviating the complexity we have devised a novel iterative algorithm, which always converges.

A Beyond 5G OTFS Waveform Radio for Smart Hospital: PAPR Reduction in OTFS Using the Cuckoo Search–Based PTS Method

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Smart hospitals have enormous potential to improve global standards of medical services. Integrating fifth‐generation (5G) and beyond 5G radio with the present healthcare framework can make hospitals smarter. High spectral access, data rate, capacity, low latency, and large data handling are requirements of innovative hospitals.
