FCAW process to avoid the use of post weld heat treatment

International Journal of Pressure Vessels and Piping, 2006
Abstract Post weld heat treatment (PWHT) is the most common technique employed for relieving residual stresses after general repair welding. Besides, the primary purpose of reducing the effect of stresses induced by welding, PWHT is also intended to temper the metallurgical structure of the heat-affected zone (HAZ).

Superficial Residual Stresses Created by The FCAW Process

1989
In this report simerficial residual stresses perforaed by the veldinq operations are analized. The base plate are ferritic C/Mn steels (structural steel), and they are velded by FCAU. Some veld procedures and PVHT are been employed, in order to obtain industrial velding conditions.

Prediction of Delta Ferrite Content and Effect of Welding Process Parameters in Claddings by FCAW

Materials and Manufacturing Processes, 2006
This article discusses the influence of welding process parameters on the content of delta ferrite in the claddings of AISI 317L, deposited onto IS: 2062 structural steel plate by the flux cored arc welding (FCAW) process. Measurement of delta ferrite within the cladding often gives important insight into the future mechanical and corrosion resistant ...

Analysis of the FCAW deposition process of a chromium carbide alloy applying central composite circumscribed experimental design

Welding International, 2018
Every production sector uses some type of machine for carrying out a certain function, and constant use of equipment causes natural wear, which consequently generates maintenance costs, and reducti...

Comparison of arc stability and variability of geometry of welds obtained by MIG/MAG and FCAW processes

Welding International, 2016
AbstractDespite their similarity, the MIG/MAG and Tubular Electrode processes display particular features with regard to arc stability and variability in the characteristics of the beads. Thus, selection of one of these processes for a specific application will have to consider how these particular features affect the quality of the welds.

PR350-164500-R03 Semi-Automatic FCAW-S Welding Process and Implications to Pipeline Girth Weld Integrity

2022
This report provides a comprehensive update of key considerations and drivers that will influence FCAW-S weld performance. The major focus has been toughness, specifically in understanding the causes of seemingly large variation in measured toughness. Analysis of the data indicates that improving welding practice is an effective tool for reducing the ...
