High-pressure bct-fcc phase transition in Ga

Physical Review B, 1998
A high-pressure powder x-ray-diffraction experiment has been carried out on Ga up to 150 GPa at room temperature. The $c/a$ axial ratio of the body-centered-tetragonal phase III continuously decreases with pressure and becomes $\sqrt{2}$ at $120\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}10\mathrm{GPa},$ where an fcc lattice is realized.

Gas–solid two‐phase flow in FCC riser

AIChE Journal, 2002
AbstractFCC riser performance was examined in a large cold‐riser model made of 0.186‐m‐ID plexiglass. In the prelift zone, distributions of particle velocity and local density in six cross sections were investigated, and the experimental results indicated that the whole prelift zone can be divided into three subzones in the axial direction.

Phase structure of the FCC quartet Ising model

Physics Letters A, 1982
Abstract The phase structure of an Ising model with four-spin interactions defined on an FCC lattice is determined by Monte Carlo techniques. Our results show that this system undergoes a single, first order transition at the self-dual point. This resolves previous mutually contradictory conclusions which have been drawn about this model.

Ferromagnetic phases of bcc and fcc Fe, Co, and Ni

Physical Review B, 1986
The different magnetic phases of the bcc and fcc forms of Fe, Co, and Ni are studied by analyzing total-energy surfaces in moment-volume parameter space obtained from energy-band calculations using a local-spin-density approximation. The surfaces, found by calculating total energies while holding both the magnetic moment and the volume fixed, offer a ...

Direct observation of antiferromagnetic phase transition in fcc Fe films

Physical Review B, 1997
Spin-polarized low-energy electron diffraction combined with in situ Kerr magnetometry and a model calculation indicates that a six monolayer thick fcc Fe film undergoes a reversible transition from a room-temperature paramagnetic state to a low-temperature phase including antiferromagnetically coupled planes.

fcc→bct phase transition in Th at extreme compressions: Theory

Physical Review B, 1992
The experimentally observed fcc{r arrow}bct crystallographic phase transition in Th, at {similar to}1 Mbar, is reproduced by means of full-potential, linear-muffin-tin-orbitals calculations. Both the calculated volume and pressure for which the transition occurs, agrees with the experimental data.

Vanadium activity measurement in fcc phase Pt-V alloy

Journal of Alloys and Compounds, 2019
Abstract The temperature dependence of the thermodynamic properties of V, in Pt-V alloy, was investigated in this study. A Pt strip was equilibrated with V2O3 powder, under controlled oxygen partial pressure and temperature. The mole fraction of V in the sample was measured with an electron probe micro-analyzer, and the activity coefficient of V was ...

Sigma Phase Embrittlement of Stainless Steel in FCC Service

CORROSION 2006, 2006
Abstract This paper describes assessment of sigma phase embrittlement in austenitic stainless steels such as Type 304H, commonly used in fluid catalytic cracking (FCC) units. Other austenitic stainless steels used in other refining process units are also discussed.

Phase stability of fcc alloys with the embedded-atom method

Physical Review B, 1990
The heats of solution of disordered phases and several stoichiometric compounds have been determined for 12 binary alloys of fcc metals using an analytic embedded-atom-method model with no adjustable parameters. The cohesive energy, vacancy formation energy, lattice constant, bulk modulus, and average shear modulus for each metal are used as input data,
