Computer‐Aided Discovery of Potent Broad‐Spectrum Vaccine Adjuvants

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, Volume 135, Issue 18, April 24, 2023., 2023
New Au nanoparticle (AuNP) adjuvants are prepared through computer‐aided molecule design and machine learning to discover agonist ligands, and sulfur‐Au coordination chemistry guided well‐ordered presentation of ligands on AuNP surface. These AuNP adjuvants show advantages in multi‐toll like receptor (TLR) targeting and application as broad‐spectrum ...

Evaluating the Drivers of Quaternary Dust Fluxes to the Western North Pacific: East Asian Dustiness and Northern Hemisphere Gustiness

open access: yesPaleoceanography and Paleoclimatology, Volume 38, Issue 9, September 2023., 2023
Abstract Quantifying variability in, and identifying the mechanisms behind, East Asian dust production and transport across the last several million years is essential for constraining future dust emissions and deposition. Our current understanding of East Asian dust dynamics through the Quaternary is primarily limited to low‐resolution records from ...

CRISPR/Cas9 Genome Editing in LGMD2A/R1 Patient‐Derived Induced Pluripotent Stem and Skeletal Muscle Progenitor Cells

open access: yesStem Cells International, Volume 2023, Issue 1, 2023., 2023
Large numbers of Calpain 3 (CAPN3) mutations cause recessive forms of limb‐girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD2A/LGMDR1) with selective atrophy of the proximal limb muscles. We have generated induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSC) from a patient with two mutations in exon 3 and exon 4 at the calpain 3 locus (W130C, 550delA).

Application of Green‐enhanced Nano‐lantern as a bioluminescent ratiometric indicator for measurement of Arabidopsis thaliana root apoplastic fluid pH

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 45, Issue 10, Page 3157-3170, October 2022., 2022
Abstract Plant root absorbs water and nutrients from the soil, and the root apoplastic fluid (AF) is an important intermediate between cells and the surrounding environment. The acid growth theory suggests that an acidic AF is needed for cell wall expansion during root growth.

Residency time of agonists does not affect the stability of GPCR–arrestin complexes

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 179, Issue 16, Page 4107-4116, August 2022., 2022
Background and Purpose The interaction of arrestins with G‐protein coupled receptors (GPCRs) desensitizes agonist‐dependent receptor responses and often leads to receptor internalization. GPCRs that internalize without arrestin have been classified as “class A” GPCRs whereas “class B” GPCRs co‐internalize with arrestin into endosomes.

Identification of a STIM1 Splicing Variant that Promotes Glioblastoma Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 9, Issue 11, April 14, 2022., 2022
The authors report a novel splice variant of stromal interaction molecule 1, designated STIM1β, that is abnormally upregulated in glioma cells. A 31‐residue insertion in the cytosolic domain of STIM1β renders itself prone for activation, thereby perturbing Ca2+ homeostasis and promoting glioblastoma growth.

Consensus‐based recommendations for titrating cannabinoids and tapering opioids for chronic pain control

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Practice, Volume 75, Issue 8, August 2021., 2021
Abstract Aims Opioid misuse and overuse have contributed to a widespread overdose crisis and many patients and physicians are considering medical cannabis to support opioid tapering and chronic pain control. Using a five‐step modified Delphi process, we aimed to develop consensus‐based recommendations on: 1) when and how to safely initiate and titrate ...
