Omeprazole as a Novel Treatment Option for Giardiasis in Cats

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 3, May 2026.
In this study, cats with giardiasis were allocated to omeprazole, metronidazole, secnidazole or placebo groups and monitored from day 0 to 14. Omeprazole achieved a reduction in Giardia cyst shedding comparable to metronidazole and also demonstrated faster clinical improvement, indicating a potential therapeutic advantage.

Molecular epidemiology and strain diversity of circulating feline Calicivirus in Thai cats

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science
Feline calicivirus (FCV) is a significant viral pathogen causing upper respiratory tract and oral diseases in cats. The emergence of the virulent systemic FCV variant (VS-FCV) has raised global concern in the past decade.

Epidemiology and Molecular Characterization of Feline Calicivirus in Beijing, China

open access: yesAnimals
Feline calicivirus (FCV) is an infectious pathogen in cats that mainly causes upper respiratory tract disease. Enhancing our understanding of the epidemiological characteristics of FCV can contribute to better strategies against FCV infection.

A Proposal for a Structural Model of the Feline Calicivirus Protease Bound to the Substrate Peptide under Physiological Conditions

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2017
Feline calicivirus (FCV) protease functions to cleave viral precursor proteins during productive infection. Previous studies have mapped a protease-coding region and six cleavage sites in viral precursor proteins.
