Fast acquisition and interpretation of FDEM sounding profiles
5th EEGS-ES Meeting, 1999For surveying the shallow subsurface geophysical methods have to compete with drilling or cone penetration tests. Firstly therefore the acquisition must be fast and reliable. Secondly, the interpretation must be fast as well as easy. Shallow frequency-domain electromagnetic sounding is a promising tool in this respect.

FDEM Simulation on Fracture Coalescence in Brittle Materials
2015of brittle materials. In this paper this phenomena is simulated by using an in-house implementation of the Combined Finite-Discrete Element method (FDEM). Key aspects of FDEM include the introduction of finite displacements, finite rotations, and finite strain based deformability combined with suitable material laws ; the incorporation of discrete ...

Boundary Condition Effect on 3-Point Bending Test via FDEM
57th U.S. Rock Mechanics/Geomechanics Symposium, 2023ABSTRACT Three-point bending test is a widely used laboratory test for the estimation of the flexural force-displacement response of the material. It is well known that the results of the three-point bending test are sensitive to the specimen and the loading.

Numerical study on abrasive machining of rock using FDEM method
Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory, 2020Abstract Rock machining has been widely used in many industries. In order to better understand the fracture and removal mechanism for rock materials during abrasive machining, a two-dimensional scratch model was developed using the hybrid finite-discrete element method (FDEM).

Block caving induced instability analysis using FDEM
2013World-wide mining operations utilize block caving as one of the most cost-effective techniques for ore extraction. Block caving has been addressed in the past by numerous discontinua methods to include Discrete Element Method (DEM), Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (DDA), Combined Finite-Discrete Element Method (FDEM), etc.
