Formation of nanoscale reaction layer with several crystallinities in the friction-welded 6061 Al alloy/steel joint

open access: yesMaterials & Design, 2022
Through precise control and manipulation of welding parameters for inertia friction-welded Al alloy/steel joints, the transformation of nanoscale interfacial layer from the amorphous to the mixed phase (co-existence of amorphous and crystallised phases ...

Critical dynamics of ferromagnets [PDF]

open access: yes, 1988
The crossover in the dynamics from isotropic to dipolar critical behaviour has been a matter of debate over many years. We review a mode coupling theory for dipolar ferromagnets which gives a unified explanation of the seemingly contradictory ...

Structural analysis and corrosion studies on an ISO 5832-9 biomedical alloy with TiO2 sol–gel layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this study was to demonstrate the relationship between the structural and corrosion properties of an ISO 5832-9 biomedical alloy modified with titanium dioxide (TiO2) layers.

Effect of TiC on amorphous forming ability, microstructure, and thermal stability of Fe55Nb15Ti15Ta15 alloys

open access: yesFenmo yejin jishu
Due to the low amorphous forming ability and the poor room temperature plasticity, the engineering applications of Fe-based amorphous alloys were greatly limited. Based on the design concept of “near mixing enthalpy with effective atomic size difference”,

Superconductivity and short range order in metallic glasses Fe$_{x}$Ni$_{1-x}$Zr$_{2}$

open access: yes, 2008
In amorphous superconductors, superconducting and vortex pinning properties are strongly linked to the absence of long range order. Consequently, superconductivity and vortex phases can be studied to probe the underlying microstructure and order of the ...

Einfluss der Grenzflaechen auf Ummagnetisierungsverhalten und senkrechte magnetische Anisotropie von Fe/Tb-Vielfachschichten [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
In the present treatise magnetic and magneto-optic properties of Fe/Tb multilayers are investigated using Kerr spectroscopy, SQUID and Torque magnetometry in order to clarifiy the influence of interfaces on the magnetization reversal and the origin of ...

Mechanochemical Synthesis and Characterization of Nanostructured ErB4 and NdB4 Rare‐Earth Tetraborides

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
ErB4 and NdB4 nanostructured powders are produced by mechanochemical synthesis. 5 h mechanical alloying and 4 M HCl acid leaching are used in the production. ErB4 and NdB4 powders exhibit maximum magnetization of 0.4726 emu g−1 accompanied with an antiferromagnetic‐to‐paramagnetic phase transition at about TN = 18 K and 0.132 emu g−1 with a maximum at ...

Static critical exponents of the ferromagnetic transition in spin glass re-entrant systems

open access: yes, 2009
The static critical phenomenology near the Curie temperature of the re-entrant metallic alloys Au_0.81Fe_0.19, Ni_0.78Mn_0.22, Ni_0.79Mn_0.21 and amorphous a-Fe_0.98Zr_0.08 is studied using a variety of experimental techniques and methods of analysis. We

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.
