We incorporate single crystal Fe$_3$O$_4$ thin films into a gated device structure and demonstrate the ability to control the Verwey transition with static electric fields.

Evidence for roughness driven 90° coupling in Fe3O4/NiO/Fe3O4 trilayers
The magnetic interlayer coupling of Fe3O4 across NiO is studied using Fe3O4/NiO/Fe3O4 trilayers epitaxially grown on (001) MgO substrates. For NiO thicknesses between 0.7 and 5 nm, the magnetic moments of the two Fe3O4 layers are directed perpendicularly with respect to each other.

Adsorption of NO on Fe3O4(111)
Abstract Adsorption of NO on Fe3O4(111) is studied by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. NO is preferably adsorbed atop the octahedral site which has a clearly higher adsorption energy than the tetrahedral site. The difference in adsorption energy correlates with differences in adsorption geometries and N O stretch vibrations.
