Volumetric 3D Printing and Melt‐Electrowriting to Fabricate Implantable Reinforced Cardiac Tissue Patches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents an implantable reinforced cardiac patch (RCPatch) combining volumetrically 3D‐printed metamaterials with melt‐electrowritten (MEW) meshes. The design integrates tunable stiff polymer structures with soft, cell‐laden hydrogels. The RCPatch withstands suturing, intraventricular pressure, and cardiac contraction in a large animal ...

FEA Finds its Place [PDF]

open access: yesMechanical Engineering, 2002
This article focuses on engineers who are examining innovative ways to fold analyses into their design cycles. Although many engineering companies currently use finite element analysis (FEA) software programs, the practice of coupling analysis with everyday design is still relatively new. Engineers today are responsible for much of the analysis done on

Quasiparticle Band Structure and Density Functional Theory: Single-Particle Excitations and Band Gaps in Lattice Models

open access: yes, 1999
We compare the quasiparticle band structure for a model insulator obtained from the fluctuation exchange approximation (FEA) with the eigenvalues of the corresponding density functional theory (DFT) and local density approximation (LDA).

Adaptive Twisting Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces torque‐controlled twisting metamaterials as a transformative platform for adaptive crashworthiness. By combining multiscale predictive modeling with experimental validation on additively manufactured gyroids, it demonstrates tunable stiffness, collapse stress, and energy absorption.

Determination of polar compounds by TLC-FID in refined and partially hidrogenated soja heated oils.

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 1997
The thermal degradation of oils and fats leads to the formation of polar compounds, which is the reason why their determination is adopted for the quality control of the oil and fat used in frying.
