Fear-avoidance beliefs related to physical activity and work are associated with clinical characteristics of migraine and with migraine-related disability

open access: yesHeadache Medicine
Introduction Migraine is a leading cause of years lived with disability and affects more than 15% of the global population. Maladaptive beliefs, although often overlooked, are highly prevalent among individuals with migraine.

Neuromorphic Electronics for Intelligence Everywhere: Emerging Devices, Flexible Platforms, and Scalable System Architectures

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The perspective presents an integrated view of neuromorphic technologies, from device physics to real‐time applicability, while highlighting the necessity of full‐stack co‐optimization. By outlining practical hardware‐level strategies to exploit device behavior and mitigate non‐idealities, it shows pathways for building efficient, scalable, and ...

The role of fear avoidance beliefs in return to work post-injury [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background: Fear avoidance beliefs have been demonstrated significant predictors of disability and work status post occupational injury and appear particularly important in explaining the transition from acute to chronic disability. Objective: This study

A Noninvasive Approach to Study Localized Forces in 3D Epithelia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Epithelial morphogenesis depends on dynamic mechanical coupling between adhesion complexes and the cytoskeleton, yet its regulation in polarized 3D tissues remains elusive. We developed a noninvasive strategy using cell‐like elastic microbeads to quantify local forces in intact epithelia.

Toward Perception‐Native Electronic Skin: Bio‐Inspired In‐/Near‐Sensor and Neuromorphic Computing for Humanoid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Dense tactile streams from across the humanoid body converge on collide in a central wiring and data bottleneck. By relocating computation closer to and then into the skin itself, near‐ and in‐sensor architectures, together with neuromorphic computing, chart a path toward perception‐native electronic skin, in which the conversion of stimulus into ...

A comparison of kinesiophobia, pain-activity patterns and fear-avoidance beliefs in patients with chronic low back pain

open access: yesTurkish Journal of Kinesiology
Chronic pain affects individuals’ activity levels. Three activity patterns are observed among individuals with chronic pain: avoidance, overdoing, and regularization.

Silk Fibroin Nanofiber–Immobilized Horseradish Peroxidase Enables Continuous Preparation of Injectable Hydrogels With Negligible Residual Enzyme for Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Overcoming the immunogenicity challenges of enzyme‐mediated crosslinking, a flow‐through reactor utilizing SFNF‐HRP enables the continuous production of injectable hydrogels. This continuous platform ensures homogeneous crosslinking while minimizing residual HRP in the resulting hydrogels.

Coherent Absorption Reveals Colors Hidden in a Grey Fabry–Pérot Cavity

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A dielectric thin film shows colors depending on its thickness; this effect can be used to encode information normally accessible through single‐beam spectroscopy. We developed a method to conceal this kind of information, based on coating the dielectric with a matched conductor, that suppresses the color‐bearing thin‐film resonances.
