Tokophobia: a fear of childbirth and pregnancy - an overview

open access: yesInternational Journal of Reproduction, Contraception, Obstetrics and Gynecology
Tokophobia is a mental disorder that affects women of all ages and varies from a mild to severe dread of delivery. Knauer first reported in the literature in 1897 that between 20% to 78% of pregnant women experience dread connected to pregnancy and delivery.

Nurr1 Orchestrates Claustrum Development and Functionality

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nurr1 (Nr4a2) is the master transcription factor to control claustrum morphogenesis and cell fate decision postmitotically by inhibiting intracellular G‐protein signaling. Nurr1 deficiency alters the transcriptomic profiles of subcortical claustral neurons into neocortical insular neurons, resulting in defected claustrum development, impaired axonal ...

Decoding Human Placental Cellular and Molecular Responses to Obesity and Fetal Growth

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Women with obesity often deliver large‐for‐gestational‐age (LGA) infants. Single‐nucleus RNA sequencing of term placenta reveals that hypoxia and TNF‐α signaling in syncytiotrophoblasts are featured in maternal obesity, but inflammatory signatures in Hofbauer cells and response to lipid or carbohydrate metabolism in fibroblasts are specific to LGA.

Fear of childbirth during pregnancy: A study of more than 8000 pregnant women

open access: yesJournal of Psychosomatic Obstetrics & Gynecology, 2002
In today's modern obstetrics, perinatal morbidity and mortality of mother and neonate have become extremely rare. Despite these advances, are pregnant women still afraid of childbearing and, if so, what--and how intense--are their fears? Are these fears influenced by previous birthing experiences and by birth preparation classes?

Testicular mRNA‐LNP Delivery: A Novel Therapy for Genetic Spermatogenic Disorders

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the current study, we developed a novel therapy for genetic spermatogenic disorders. It was revealed that in vivo delivery of mRNA LNP3 could restore spermatogenesis in Msh5D486Y/D486Y and Maps KO mouse models with meiotic arrest. Notably, the offspring without genomic integration was born using ICSI derived from the rescue of Msh5D486Y/D486Y mouse ...

Versatile CRISPR‐Cas Tools for Gene Regulation in Zebrafish via an Enhanced Q Binary System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces CRISPR‐Q, a transgenic CRISPR‐Cas system leveraging the QFvpr/QUAS binary expression platform in zebrafish. CRISPR‐Q overcomes previous challenges in achieving stable and efficient gene regulation. By enabling precise spatiotemporal control of transcript knockdown (CRISPR‐QKD) and gene activation (CRISPR‐Qa), it provides a ...

A Lung‐Immune Dual‐Humanized Mouse Using Cryopreserved Tissue Enables Infection and Immune Profiling of Human Common Cold Coronaviruses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cryopreserved lung‐humanized mice overcome the dependency to fresh tissues and permit head‐to‐head profiling of all four human common cold coronaviruses versus SARS‐CoV‐2 infection; the model validates Paxlovid efficacy against HKU1 and, when coupled with human immune‐system engraftment, enables interrogation of lung‐resident human immunity and HKU1 ...
