Feasibility of low dose chest CT for virtual bronchoscopy navigation in a porcine model

open access: yesRespiratory Research, 2019
Background Virtual bronchoscopy navigation (VBN) is widely used for assistance in the histological examination of lung nodules. However, little is known about the optimal CT radiation dose for VBN.

A Rank-Two Feasible Direction Algorithm for the Binary Quadratic Programming [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Based on the semidefinite programming relaxation of the binary quadratic programming, a rank-two feasible direction algorithm is presented. The proposed algorithm restricts the rank of matrix variable to be two in the semidefinite programming relaxation ...

A numerical study of an infeasible interior-point algorithm for convex quadratic semi-definite optimization

open access: yesJournal of Numerical Analysis and Approximation Theory
The focus of this research is to apply primal-dual interior-point pathfollowing methods, specifically those derived from Newton’s method for solving convex quadratic semidefinite optimization (CQSDO) problems. In this paper, we present a numerical study

Solving ill-posed bilevel programs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This paper deals with ill-posed bilevel programs, i.e., problems admitting multiple lower-level solutions for some upper-level parameters. Many publications have been devoted to the standard optimistic case of this problem, where the difficulty is ...

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

Reinforcement Learning-Based Approach for Minimizing Energy Loss of Driving Platoon Decisions

open access: yesSensors, 2023
Reinforcement learning (RL) methods for energy saving and greening have recently appeared in the field of autonomous driving. In inter-vehicle communication (IVC), a feasible and increasingly popular research direction of RL is to obtain the optimal ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.
