The Unexpected Lightness of the Main Verb: An Eye-Tracking Study on Relative Clauses and Trace Reactivation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
A few studies on relative-clause processing report an unexpected facilitatory effect on the matrix verb that follows an  Object Relative (ORC) clause (e.g. Staub, Dillon and Clifton jr. 2017).

Multi‐omics and low‐input proteomics profiling reveals dynamic regulation driving pluripotency initiation in early mouse embryos

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

Adult Bilingualism : the Partial Effects of Feature Similarity in the L2 Processing of Relative Clauses [PDF]

open access: yes
Recent studies suggest that object relative clauses (OR) have a higher processing cost than subject relative clauses (SR). The Relativized Minimality principle indicates intervention effects between the displaced head of the relative clause and its trace,

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

The Nonnegative-Nonpositive Analysis of Continuous-Discontinuous Negation in Moroccan Arabic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
The inconsistency of the assumptions underlying analyses lacking a split in the negation domain has evidently invited a transition to explanations employing a split strategy derived from Soltan’s (2012) Split-Neg analysis of Cairene Egyptian Arabic.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Analysing the significance of small conformational changes and low occupancy states in serial crystallographic data

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.
