Research on Ship Traffic Flow Prediction Using CNN-BIGRU and WOA With Multi-Objective Optimization

open access: yesIEEE Access
Accurate understanding of maritime traffic flow is crucial for optimizing waterway and port resources. However, the complex spatiotemporal characteristics and non-stationary sequences in maritime traffic pose challenges for feature extraction. This study

In situ molecular organization and heterogeneity of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present a nearly complete in situ model of the Legionella Dot/Icm type IV secretion system, revealing its central secretion channel and identifying new components. Using cryo‐electron tomography with AI‐based modeling, our work highlights the structure, variability, and mechanism of this complex nanomachine, advancing understanding of bacterial ...

Exploiting Temporal Feature Integration for Generalized Sound Recognition

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2009
This paper presents a methodology that incorporates temporal feature integration for automated generalized sound recognition. Such a system can be of great use to scene analysis and understanding based on the acoustic modality.

Perceptual Context in Cognitive Hierarchies

open access: yes, 2018
Cognition does not only depend on bottom-up sensor feature abstraction, but also relies on contextual information being passed top-down. Context is higher level information that helps to predict belief states at lower levels.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

AdaFI-FCN: an adaptive feature integration fully convolutional network for predicting driver’s visual attention

open access: yesGeo-spatial Information Science
Visual Attention Prediction (VAP) is widely applied in GIS research, such as navigation task identification and driver assistance systems. Previous studies commonly took color information to detect the visual saliency of natural scene images.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

A spatial map: a propitious choice for constraining the binding problem

open access: yesFrontiers in Computational Neuroscience
Many studies have shown that the human visual system has two major functionally distinct cortical visual pathways: a ventral pathway, thought to be important for object recognition, and a dorsal pathway, thought to be important for spatial cognition ...

Negative emotion does not modulate rapid feature integration effects

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2012
Emotional arousal at encoding is known to facilitate later memory recall. In the present study, we asked whether this emotion-modulation of episodic memory is also evident at very short time scales, as measured by feature integration effects, the moment ...
